Default Another baseball player sidelined

Nate Adcock, Texas Rangers pitcher, sidelined by TOS & the surgery. I wouldn't wish TOS on anyone, but if enough of these 'famous' cases reach the media, maybe we'll start to see more prompt diagnosis & treatment efforts.

Sorry to hear that. Chris Carpenter had to retire because of TOS. He pitched for the ST. Louis Cardinals. Josh Beckett is worried that he won't make it through this season. He spoke with Chris about this before he retired. Texas Rangers had so many players who dealt with TOS, and they are retired. I'm hoping this will bring more attention to TOS, but I'm also trying to bring awareness to this. We have too many people suffering from TOS, and something needs to be done.

I have been thinking the same thing for quite a while. Something definitely needs to be done. If everyone on this forum puts in a group effort we can really raise awareness but also do more than that to help our fellow TOSers and those who are suffering undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.

Too bad more doctors aren't knowledgeable about TOS. The condition is often one of exclusion, however those with TOS shouldn't spend years going to numerous docs, getting multiple misdiagnoses (my not unique experience). Even unnecessary surgeries. Re: post by 20YrsTos: Have those retired players been unable or just unwilling to return to play? I'm only familiar with Carpenters story.

Well I believe some of them Josh Beckett is still playing, u can go to the Dodgers website. Players like Kenny Rogers and other players who played with the Rangers had gotten better from the surgery, but some gave it up. Another player I recall was Hank Blalock. I believe the Rangers had about 5 players with TOS. I read about this years ago. You can google Texas Rangers players with TOS. But the Rangers are not the only team. I hope this helps. There are so many people dealing with this.

Thanks
