Default Facebook thread - did surgery help?

There is a thread in the Facebook support group asking people to post the date of surgery, type of TOS and whether or not it helped. An interesting read. In short, the results are mixed.

I know you realize this chroma, but I'm posting it for the new people who come along seeking information.

There are so many things to consider when thinking about surgery. The survey is not one. How long symptomatic. Who is the surgeon. Age. Other health issues. Post op care long term (the debate over pt or no pt post op, and if so then when to start it, for example). Type of TOS. Willingness to take risk. Severity of symptoms. Extent to which non surgical approaches help you. The presumption that many of those with excellent outcomes likely are not even active in the group anymore as tos isn't much on their radar (thus they are not commenting within the survey). The list just goes on and on. While it is interesting to read the survey, it should not be construed as statistically accurate or factored when making a decision whether or not to have surgery.
