Hey everyone,
I had recently had surgery back in November, I had a first rib resection, scalenectomy, and neurloysis. Recovery went pretty good until I returned back to work. I work in a physically demanding field in the auto industry. I was out of work 7/8 weeks, I knew I Was gonna be sore the first few days and just took Motrin to control the pain. I had issues with my neck stiffing up on me shoulder, chest, and pain under my arm pit. The pain got so bad I passed out at work and was sent home, and might be going back on disability. I spoke with my doc office and waiting to hear more info back. There is talk about putting me through more physical therapy and a talk of having pec minor syndrome. Is there anyone that has gone through this and was there a good outcome after treatment? Any info is welcomed, I've done a little research and shows a lot of PT and also pec minor block injections, pec minor release surgery. I just hope I dont have to go back under the knife again. Thank you all in advance Lindsey |

Gosh, you sure are having a time. I was concerned when you said you were going back to work so fast. I think they put you back in the game too soon, even though being home was driving you nuts. I am glad you didn't hurt yourself worse.
From what I have read the pec minor syndrome is less invasive then the rib resection, so its also a quicker recovery. They go in through the armpit and snip the pec muscle. Did you have any symptoms of pec minor issue before rib resection surgery? Did the surgeon talk about this at all with you? I have the armpit thing going on too. Laying flat or pressure under the arm from a bad movement can make me feel like my heart is being pierced. Its not fun but thankfully it can be fixed. I will definitely be addressing that with the TOS. Maybe more PT will work for you. That would be their first effort anyhow. Conservative up right? Good luck, I really hope you heal and can get back to your life soon. |
