Out Of Surgery
I had surgery yesterday morning. They went through the armpit and took out my first rib, cleaned up the nerves, and detached the pectoral minor muscle.
Things went well. I am still in the hospital for another night at least. The pain is really bad. I have to hold pressure on my chest (most of the time a ice pack) in order to find comfort. My scapula is the only other really sore spot, that is from the drainage and local numbing meds. Coughing, laughing, talking for long periods, and sneezing are the worst!
For those that are getting prepared for surgery here are some things that helped me so far.
1) muscle rub is really nice
2) ice and pressure on my chest
3) heat on the back
I am still getting things down, but hopefully this helps others!
