Default Pain Relief after First Rib Resection

Hi All,

I had a first rib resection and pec minor release two weeks ago for NTOS. I am still experiencing nerve pain in my hand/arm and my surgeon said 50% of patients wake up with their pain cured and 50% take 1-3 months for the nerves to heal.

I know I am being impatient but I am worried the surgery did not fix the issue. I am curious, for those who had the surgery, how long did it take for the nerve pain to subside?

Best,
Kelsey

You will still have pain due to the surgery, some have pain for months, some less time..
lots of tissue was moved around to get at the rib & pec minor.

Surgeon really should have clarified better for you.

NTOS is a tricky one, use our search tool for other NTOS or surgery posts...

I had same done on both sides. With gentle stretching and a hot tub to use, it took almost 2 years for mine to resolve. It's been 11 years out now and I STILL put ice on the pec minor scars. Middle of the night seems to be when I need it most. But it's not a daily problem anymore like it was before surgeries.

Heal well,
