Default Nearly 4 Months Post Op

Wow - I can't beleive I am nearly four months post op. In all, I have noticed some improvements but I am still in a considerable amount of pain. My ins. co. sent me for a bunch of 'Insurers Medical Exams' which I had the last one today - this will determine if I keep getting my income replacement. Still have to appeal my LTD denial - just been so stressed lately. I worry about going back to work, or at least that job.

The biggest things have been that my hand is a normal color now and only gets really cold when (imagine this) I am at the computer too long or over exert myself. I do have problems with my hand getting very hot and 'clammy' though - something I am not used to at all. The constant numbness is gone and I only have the pins and needles in certain positions. The docs have commented on how great my pulse is now!!! The pain however has increased since before surgery. Doc said that this is normal - a broken rib takes up to 9 months to heal so taking out a rib takes some time to settle down. The shoulder blade pain can be wicked at times and I still suffer from frequent migraines. But, I don't regret my decision!!! That was one thing I was worried about.

In physio and massage for a total of 5 appts a week. Again no big news there but I am working through it. My pain levels are all over the map - need to talk to my doc about something to keeps things more even.

I modify things so I can get them done and I do alright most days. Moving in with my BF helped - he can pick up the slack for me (I give that boy credit for being with me...he has been great). Boredom is starting to set in, but I am thankful I am recovering in the summer rather then winter! You folks who have gone through surgery in the winter are brave souls!!!!

This group has been great. Victoria - you have always been a great inspiration to me...you rock girl!!! Thanx to everyone...

hiya Jamy, i have been thinking about you as i am in a similar boat. Summer is defeintely the time to be stuck home. I am thankful that gardening is one activity i can still do. My yard has never looked so great, and the tomatoes have just started coming in- my my. the next challenge is to get them turned into sauce as fast as i can pick them
