Just wondering if anyone had any tips on trying to hold a baby when you have TOS. My 3 month old has been a little cranky lately and all she wants to do is be held by her mama. My arms, shoulder, and neck are killing me. The doc gave me darvocet to take, but I am a little hesitant about taking it. I am breastfeeding, and I have never taken this drug before. He said it might make her sleepy.

If anybody has any other helpful tips, please let me know.

I am using a Boppy pillow for breastfeeding, and that does help.

perhaps this will help....sorry don't have more info to help you but perhaps a consult with an occupational therapist may be of help to give you answers about tools and things that will help you with your pain and dealing with your issues. there are many things available to help if you are able to get an OT or even a PT to help.

When i injured myself, my baby was about 5 months old- i depended on a carrier very similar to this to cart her around when I had to. You might be able to find one with more of the weight distributed to the waist- there are several kinds. I would search for hip carrier. You'll still have to support her with your arms for soem time, but it will take some of the weight off.

I also used a specific sling that i really liked, and looks like they make a cool wrap now, too. -it will work well for such a little one

I am done with my pale yellow microfleece peanut shell sling (size M) and would be happy to pass it on to a loving home if you need one. My youngest baby is 2years next week and there is NO WAY i could carry her around in it any more


I think the most important thing once she is a little older -which the peanut shell does not have- is something to go around your low back-

PS, I took a reasonable amount of vicodin while I was still breastfeeding- though my baby was already a year old by the time i started. She did not seem to suffer any ill effects.

I saw on the news today that a baby died from it's mother taking codein(?) and breast feeding. I do not know the amount but they said to be very careful and check with your doctor. I took percocet after the birth of all 4 children due to c-section, basic child birth pain. CHECK! I had never heard of this before today. I never had a problem but You can NEVER be too careful with these beautiful babies. I don't mean to scare you just wanted to tell you. I live in NJ and it was on ABC news. Linda
