Has anyone else experienced this? Right above my clavice, I get this spasm of an artery or something. If so, how do you treat it?

I had that: it was an artery being compressed. The worst times were when I was pregnant and just after. I guess the nerves were all compressed and this thing popped up. I also had vomiting, feever, headaches, extreme weakness... had to be out of work for months b4 it resolved itself.
Try ice on it if you can tolerate it. Rest a lot. Do anything you can to calm the nerves and reduce any inflamation you have. ![]() Anne

have you gotten a 3-D MRI/MRA study done yet (www.tosmri.com)?) and, what does dr. jordan say you should do? this sx sounds vascular in nature and not like something you would want to fool around with or ignore for much longer. it can be dangerous to do so, from what i understand. but i am just a patient. i defer to the experts.
again, please refer to: www.doctorellis.com. i guess i'm confused as to how you think we can help you with something as alarming as this, when drs. jordan, ahn, weaver et al are right here in los angeles... good luck to you. please let us know what you find out. all i can tell you is that if it were me, i would seek tx immediately. alison "Be Brave" Last edited by Sea Pines 50; 08-20-2007 at 05:16 PM. |

I think i would see a Dr esp while it is very visible like it is- at the very least it will be something they can see and document- and hopefully they can help with it.

Hi, I hadn't paid much attention to this thread as it didn't apply to me. Today, I have been having this pulsating, almost like a nerve twitching in my right shoulder. It's really weird and is just above my collar bone. It doesn't hurt, no lump, just annoying.

Thanks to all of your responses. I don't think it is as alarming as it may sound. It is definitely due to compression, however, there really is no pain. It is just an annoyance. I am wondering if surgery would alleve me of this nuisance. Dr. Ahn said maybe, maybe not. Had he said yes, I would have had surgery right then and there! Of course, nothing is for sure.
I will let you know if I have surgery and if it alleviates this. Thanks again. |

Thanks. I hope everything is ok. Hopefully you don't need surgery. My thing is just weird and annoying. It's just a nerve twitch but persists. Not painful. Hope all else is well! Linda

I have this too. for me it is behind, around the shoulder blade area. At first the pulse felt like i had the TENS unit on that spot; like a pulsing massage. But after awhile it became very annoying. I was told that it was a neurological symptom of TOS. It comes on especially with use of the arm. I did read about it on one of the papers listed in the stickies.

LinJane,
I have experienced the same annoyance that you have. What seems to help me at times is stretching your neck to the opposite side. I believe it helps open up some space in there. Try holding your head to the opposide side tilting back a little bit for about 15 seconds. Let me know if that helps. |
