Default Apologies - but questions....

Today I was finally feeling a little better since JULY, so I came on to read, and I did not recognize the post that was said to be mine, and apparently said some offensive things. I don't have any political agenda these days - haven't since I've been sick really to be fully honest since I used to have such an interest - and didn't know anything about the congressperson until today from the View, and that's because I've been so sick. And no, the guy isn't from where I am - everyone knows I'm in Orange County I also don't misspell words, usually...

I did send out one mass email about being so sick lately which had some details about missing my QME, and I sent that to about 24 TOSers, but no post here. I don't know anything about any ship, or missing check, or the thing about my parents is strange in that my father has been dead since I was in law school...so this is very upsetting to me.

So what I am saying, is that I didn't write that post. I felt that when the other site crashed, for a while I'd wondered if someone had my password as things didn't seem right - PMs were "read" when I hadn't read them yet, but I chalked it up to being sick. I haven't been here except to quickly check to see if I've had an email, and even then, maybe once per two months or maybe a little more...as everyone who knows me knows, I've been extremely sick. Except in the very beginning few days, I have not had one PM here, which is also weird. I wonder if someone is deleting them for me.

I apologize to those people who got so upset by what was written - and I'm a little shocked to read their posts about why I should be liked or respected as I've never written a post like that one I am sure, and it doesn't feel nice to have one post in ALL of the thousands of posts I've ever posted and then for people to basically say I'm a bad person. I thank those who thought it was weird and wondered if I was ok...and they aren't even close friends, they just must have known it wasn't like me. I wish someone had contacted me via phone to let me know this was going on. Anyways, I am going to see how to change my password, it wasn't a difficult one to figure out, so I'll make it tougher. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone here at this site, just to make that clear, and this will not be a big deal, just a change of password.

Questions: do the "mods" here have access to our personal password??? Or is it only the creator here? And if we do not log out, can that block someone at another computer, or is that not recommended? So is it better to keep logged in, or logged out? I would guess logged in would mean anyone in my house could get on, but logged out means anyone anywhere can log in as me... Does anyone know these computer questions? What do you all do?

Thanks, and God bless to all...

nope, mods dop not have access to ANY personal information of members. not emails addy's, passwords, pm.s...nada.

if you would like to know more of what i edited out, please pm me, ok?

i am glad you are feeling better today.

btw...as of right now bt1 and bt2 have the same look. we have had more than 1 member get confused as to which forum they have posted on. hopefully that will all change in the near future.

Exclamation

i would say to log out. that way you have to enter in your password each time you visit. ( if you share a computer)

change your password often and don't use the same one you use on any other forum!! ( i am not talking about bt1, but any smaller boards you might visit)

I don't go to any other TOS site now since this one started, but thanks for saying that as I'd better check the old one... Thanks for all of the responses to my questions. I've got to figure out how to change the password now, so that's my next step.

I wanted to share something that happened to me a couple of months ago, I had my yahoo messenger on all the time and someone here at home turned off my internet security to burn some cd's and a hacker got in my email and somehow stole my yahoo accounts and now I can't get them back...I changed all my online passwords and got my email back but still someone is using my yahoo accounts as me, Grrrrrrr! So it is possible to hack someones passwords!

I have "my" profile on my computer with a separate password so no one can even get in to my email and bookmarks {forums}
and those each have a password too.
I am as admin on my computer so i only have full access all others are limited.

my hubby has his profile account {limited account}
daughter has her own {limited account}
and if the boys need to use it they are under family {limited account}

If i go away from computer for any length of time when others are at home I log off & go to the switch users screen and then re log on w/password.

Is yours set up with separate profiles?

I am the only one that uses this computer (we have a total of 4 online) so this was following my surgery when I was zonked on Lyrica and one of the girls that follow my ds (he plays bluegrass near Townsend) was here and while my sis took me shopping for wedding clothes this girl was on my laptop and also stole some meds, my jewery and a gun (police report was made) and I no longer allow anyone near my room! Live and learn I guess!

Default Another hint....

if you guys use netscape (maybe IE, too...I don't know as I don't use it) there is an "autofill" option for passwords. Or a button you can click that will autofill the passwords. make sure yours are turned off or someoen can just click the button and fill it in for you.''

Hugs

Default Tam,

the top it seemed odd, the was you signed your name...
But, if you were out of it on a new med, there was some concern I had.
The password, If you left the computer on and someone in your home could back the pages, or drop the menue down and you were on auto log in, they could use your username.

I would look at the date and time and see if it is possible in your house someone to sabotage your posting. Check housekeepers too!
That was were it was the last time on Old BT it happened.
Hugs to you, glad everything is OK...
Di
