i've developed a few new symptoms and am just wondering, esp since i am w/o a TOS doc right now, if you folks make anything of these.
1. i have a sensation of electrical pulsing in my 1st 2 fingertips and the length of my index finger that goes to the base of the thumb. (not the usual little fingers where the neuro pain goes). this pulsing sensation feels somewhat like my TENS unit and is kind of subtle. i notice it most pronounced when i walk. i also have some of this same feeling in the upper arm, like a band around the deltoid, but still most odd in the fingers/finger tips. 2. arm shaking with attempted lower body cardio exercise. i tried an exercise machine slowly and for just a few minutes, using legs only while keeping arms at rest in pockets. when i stopped and noticed my arm starting to swell and that my arm was also shaking. then there is also the hand pain, especially between the finger muscles along the back of the hand, which i have so often adn that really gets in the way with most any use of my body. i have a feeling this and wrist pain is made more extreme due to such little use of my arms and becoming less fit since yrs of TOS. btw-i dont have carpul tunnel or any other diag. in the hand. thx for any insights! |

The band feeling has been mentioned by others in the past.
Do you have primary vascular type of TOS? That could explain the swelling and maybe the shaking?? I got very sharp cramps in the back of my hands for quite awhile. And I had and still get sharp wrist pains at times - but it's very on/off and do to usage.

Fern,
Are the pulses like electrical shocks, or are they in time with your heartbeat (or both)? The shaking sounds like a new symptom...I hope others can chime in on what it might be. Take care, Melissa |

I used to get a vibrating/buzzing sensation inside my forearms, it didn't hurt or anything but was very annoying. I tried to describe it to Drs and they had no clue about it.....

this may sound wierd but a few months back i had electrical feeling in arm. My wife even felt it and it scared her! it even hurt at times. She ran her hand down my arm and I just felt like a shock. I feel dumb admitting this but I swear I could feel electricity around light switches etc.... I know, I'm crazy ! Hasn't happened in a long time but I get little electrical feelings from time to time. A buzzing in the stomach and chest area too. Stretching overhead always helped me. Good luck.

This is a new sx for me, too. I have an appt with a (non-TOS familiar) Neurologist next week - hope to get some answers.
In addition to the shaking arms/hands I have leg, body and neck twitches. I'm hoping it's not a Parknsons-like thing. I'm also having a vibrating sensation in my chest - over the sternum. It's so frequent, I notice it more when it STOPS! It's like flipping a lightswitch off... VERY noticeable. It's a vibration, like a cell phone on vibrate. I'm very frustrated not having a TOS doc here in ATL. Our State-run healthcare system is on the verge of collapse so I feel lucky just being able to get scrips filled and to get this Neuro referal. Thanks for this thread fern!

Hi Fern; Just wondering if you have any cervical spine issues? Have you had emg monofuller needle examination, or emg testing? Or an mri of the cervical spine. Has carpal tunnel been ruled out? Have you seen a neurologist, or physiatrist? Hope you get some relief soon. It can be scary when you don't understand where and whats wrong. Take Care

I had the same exact symtooms and it was tos. Your body will twitch and buzz in order to move itself back into the position it should be. Even create bone spurs to take pressure off nerves etc..... good luck to you. As I type my back is twitching and leg sometimes. The more I stretch the better though.
