Default Online Library and downloadable books

I don't know if other areas have their local library set up with online access?

But ours did this years ago and last summer added down loadable books thru Library 2go.

I haven't tried one yet - I just looking thru some of the titles and got to thinking if you have this in your area it is a great thing - no need to hold a book!

I'll post the link - I don't know if it is only for use by Oregonians or not?

Crazy Me Lazy

Jo,

At first I was in too much of a flare to check this out, but it looks like this site is so cool...

so for free (that is my question, can't tell yet, as each book I tried to get was already on hold) but do you get it for free and you download it to your computer and then read it off of your screen?

It looks like you aren't allowed to burn it to a CD - are you allowed to print it out?

Have you tried it yet Jo? Anyone else tried it yet?

If it works, this sure looks like an easy, cool new way to get books!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing this.

Also, btw, how in the world did you post 4,000 times girl?

Hehe- I moderate on all the forums and get very chatty at times
going back and forth explaining steps on the computer forum takes a lot of posts as well as welcome posts when we didn't have a welcome team in place. I hate to see a goose egg on a new members post.

yes it's free-
Does your library have access to it?
I had to put in my library card to "check out" the book - some can be copied to CD it has a burn symbol at the bottom of the book description area.
You have to download the software program that will play the book and you can switch it to use the windows media player.
you don't have to read it off the screen -they had someone read it and recorded that
so you can play it and listen to it while reclining or resting in bed or whatever.

I just listened to the first chapter of one book- I guess for me the person they have reading them makes a difference - because I like to visualize the characters and their voices when I read myself and if the reader/person is not really good or has a droning voice....
but maybe I'll try out a self help type of book next- since that would be a diff situation.

County of Los Angeles has a similar site...I'll have to try this out.

Thanks, Jo, I get stuff from the library all the time, including requesting stuff online, but I didn't know they had this service!
