Hi all,
Wanted to let you know that the New York Times is running a 3-part series on chronic pain. Today's column, titled "Chronic Pain: A Burden Often Shared" is EXCELLENT. It describes how chronic pain effects personal relationships, and provides useful, practical advice (from a supportive perspective) for spouses/family members/caregivers. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/13/he...hIAIyBEfmqM7rQ Last week's column, "Living With Pain That Just Won't Go Away," was good too, although a little more general. One thing that was new to me was a discussion of the difference between what the article calls the two categories of chronic pain (neuropathic and nociceptive). http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/06/he...77e&ei=5087%0A I think several people have posted in the last few months about the difficulty that spouses/family members have had maintaining a supportive perspective . Hope today's column helps! I'll try to remember to post the link for the final column next week. |
