Hi everyone,
I wanted to spend some time on here today replying to posts but I have not had a good day. Actually, it's been a bad week, month, year! Yesterday I could barely get out of bed. Been having trouble sitting, walking, bending, going to the bathroom, etc, etc, etc. I knew I'd be hearing from the Doc today. I went for my Thoracic Spine MRI Tuesday night and the radiologist called the Doc to discuss my MRI and faxed him the report yesterday. It was fast so I knew it couldn't be good. Good news...I don't have MS but I do have a serious problem. T10 & T11 disc herniation compressing the spinal cord - SEVERE! The Neurologist was a jerk about it - he said he had no answers for me and can't treat me. He said "I shouldn't be having pain with this" I don't see how! I have pain in my back! It's more the not being able to move my legs, can't get up a flight of steps, can't walk at any elevation, can't get up from sitting, can't get on or off the floor, can't get out of bed, can't move my legs up or out, have TROUBLE BREATHING (yesterday I thought I was being squeezed to death and couldn't catch my breath - almost went to the ER), sweating, clamminess, can't walk, can't move legs one in front of the other, eyes aren't working together, get confused, ringing in the ears, loss of balance, I can go on and on...now it all makes sense...compression on the spinal cord and NO ONE EVER LOOKED AT MY THORACIC SPINE! THE ONE PART OF MY BODY THEY NEVER CHECKED! SHEESH! Now I'm scared because he said it is serious but he can't say how serious because he didn't look at the films. He only talked to the radiologist and got the report. He said it might not be as serious as they are saying but he thinks with my symotoms that it is. I do too. He wants me seen by a Neurosurgeon next week and if they can't see me then I need to go through the ER. He said if I can't walk or breathe right get to the ER. Sounds serious! Well I forsee another surgery in the near future! can anyone give insight on this? I'm lost - I think ..there goes my summer! This sucks! Thanks for letting me vent! I've done nothing but cry today. I can't take anymore! I CAN'T! I am FED UP! I hate it! A AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Goodnight

Momz, there may be a silver lining to this: they have identified the problem. I hope a good neurosurgeon, maybe in conjunction with an osteopath can FIX the problem! It may mean a surgery and a lot of down-time, but I hope for you and your families' sake that it's correctable.
Lots of knowledgeable folks over in the spiney forum. You should get great support there. Keep us posted ONLY as you feel up to it. We love you! Anne

Hang in there, momz! Take it day by day and step by step. Now that they have figured out what is wrong, Im sure they will try to do what ever they can to fix it. Let us know how it goes.

I know that you must be feeling like this is another setback Momz (which you need like a hole in the head, I know ) but if they can fix this surgically maybe this can be a positive thing down the road . I really hope and pray that that is the case.....you have had such a miserable time of this ! I forget....are you on WC or SSDI ? Could you be eligible through one of those or your regular insurance for help at home ? My prayers are with you |
