Default Hi Billy

Hi sorry to hear about your headaches and dizzyness.

I am a nurse and have a few suggestions.
As for your headache it may be tos related it may not. If it is then the more you do in the am the worse you will feel in the afternoon.....I too get this feeling and am being worked up for fibromyalgia as well as my tos and chronic pain related to the tos. The best way for me to fight a headache is mint oil on my temples....be VERY careful not to get near eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!
the oil is toned down with the use of a carrier oil....almond oil or holly oil like massage therapists use. Also a cold pack on the back of your neck and a small nap may help. I take a nap after I do strenuous activity...like walk the dog this really helps me. If you are using a heating pad or hot packs don't put them on the back of your neck if you can help it.
oh by the way is the headache all over or one sided? Could it be a migraine that would also cause dizzyness.

i too get dizzyness and it is caused by low blood pressure. I get dizzy just from a small walk sometimes. Again with tos the more you do in the am if you feel ok then the fall out comes in the afternoon. So if you have vascular tos then you could be occluding blood flow to your brain....I had this happen to me and actually passed out in a gym pre diagnosis from overhead arm use in PT.

hope some of this helps you
take care,
Victoria

Just read your advice about dizziness victoria....a few times i have had dizzy spells when i am shopping (tunnel like vision and bright lights around me). It was quite bad one of the times and had some customers fanning me with cushions and getting me water!.

My symptoms suggest vascular involvement so this could explain my dizzy attacks i suppose....although im not sure what i would've done to trigger it as i cant carry very much in way of shopping. But from your advice to billy, i understand that perhaps something you have done earlier on in the day can affect you lateron.

Hi Tracey,
Sorry Billy gonna hijack your thread for a bit but it's about the same issues.

Tracey even walking unless your arm is in a sling or support will cause blockage of blood flow to the brain!!!! Pushing a cart....more stress on the old vessels!!

As for the dizziness timing is it when you are getting up from a low shelf or all of a sudden?? if it is from getting up from a low space it may be something called orthostatic hypotension.....basically low blood pressure when you stand up and when you get up your body cant pump fast enough to get the blood back up into your brain as you stand up.....so two possibilities. If you do have low bp it can be related to meds. Any med you take for migraines can do this they usually cause low bp. go to a place where you can check your own bp and see what it is!! On your uneffected side.....unless they both are......then be careful...sorry don't know your story.

sorry agian Billy
take care,
love and hugs,
Victoria

Victoria,

That is fine this is very useful information. I feel lousy in afternoon often. Sometimes dizzy and others not. I think it's from over use, diet, too much coffee. It doesn't seem to relate to pain med , its happened whether I use it or not. Bonine(otc) seems to help dizziness.

Thanks victoria, im only affected on my right hand side (at the moment!). When i mentioned having this dizzy spell i was clothing shopping and had been standing in a queue to pay. I was only carrying a bag in my left arm (never use the right to carrry). So im not sure why the dizzy/tunnel visioned spell happened, i dont recall bending down to look at thing on shelves etc. Perhaps it just doesnt take much sometimes to block the blood flow - maybe just using my arms to rummage through clothes was enough for me on that particular day....

I didnt realise that the blood flow was blocked to the brain in vascular tos - i thought it was just to the arm....im still learning new things about tos everyday though.

thanks again

tracey

Hi,
don't forget that in Tos you can have the nerves to your ears effected as well. So taking something for nausea (?? bonamine?? other name for bonine??) will help with the inner ear issues that can cause dizziness. I get ringing and numbness and tingling in my ear and dizziness from that as well. If the nerve is compressed to the inner ear that will for sure cause you to be dizzy!!!!

Nerves have a funny way of reacting when you compress them! Damn things!!!!!!! don't have to tell you that though do I!

take care
love and hugs,
Victoria
