Default hi

Hi Tracey

I am a nurse. I lifted a patient up from a toilet 6 yrs ago now and have not been able to work since. I cant do any type of sedentary or repetitive work.
The lady was about 180lbs and I took all her weight even with 2 of us lifiting her up from the loo. she was a dying lady and got to the bathroom herself then couldn't move. We had to do all the work. I tried to return to work and it made things so much worse had to stop any kind of work. So now I just get my weekly massage and try to get through the week without killing myself.

take care and I hope you find the answers you need. You will have good success if you take the 2 disks to another doc...impartial opinion and good comparison.
All people read things differently.

love and hugs,
Victoria

Thanks Vic, i just realised that i read the story of how you hurt yourself in your first response to me on this thread!, my memory is quite bad at the moment!. I think that i will just work my way through the 2 vascular dr's that i have short listed (ones that seem to believe in TOS and have treated it!!) Think they may be the only 2 in the UK so if they cant help then im pretty much screwed!

I have really, really appreciated all of your help and support during the last week. You have helped me get through this tough spot, for which i am eternally grateful....if u ever need a rant then feel free to aim in my direction!

I will update you with how i get on with the Dr in essex as think i may head in his direction first....

Best wishes
Tracey

Ok, so during my research into vascular dr's i decided to just call a few london hospitals and speak to their vascular departments. one lady said that there is only one guy in the country that i need to see as he is the bees knees when it comes to TOS. He is called Dr John Thompson and apparently has patients travel from all over the country to see him - he is a 3-4 hour train ride from where i live but im hoping it'll be worth it! Apparently the majority of his work is TOS, his secretary relayed a list of my symptoms to him and he would like to see me.

Fingers crossed getting the referral from my GP tomorrow!

a special thanks again Vic for your support - and to helen as well (horizontal one!) hope u have a fab holiday and i will let u know how i get on with my latest quest for a good dr....i hope to see him within the next 4 weeks.

Wishing everyone a happy, comfortable day

I have been there and have had my share of incosiderate not empathetic doctorss!!! Honestly, why would someone with that personality go into this field!!!

I was dealing with a doctor and not only he but his office staff were awful. My husband actually fired him right in front of me and slammed out of the room. I have never seen a man look more speechless and put in his place. In hindsight it is the best thing I ever did because I finally found good caring doctors. I still get a chuckle when I think back to that doctor and the look on his face when my husband slammed out of the room

thanks nat....others stories on here sometimes make me worry that it may be quite a while before i find a good dr....but they also inspire me to be persistent and that it is not us - ITS THEM!. Your right, i do wonder why some dr's bother getting out of bed in the morning - perhaps its to stare blankly into the face of someone in distress.....but what is worse, is the the horrible dr's even more awful secretarys!!

This dr that i have managed to track down has a wonderful secretary who spent ages on the phone with me listing to my story and she went off and relayed my story to the dr who then said he would definetely like to see me......lets watch this space!

take care

Tracey - I'm so happy for you that you found a Doc that sounds like he cares! I hope the appointment goes well, and that the train ride is well worth it. I think its also great that the nurse took the time to talk to you, and was kind and approchable!
