Default Calling all UK members-can u help me with TOS specialists?

Hi,

Im trying to research the best dr's who know about/have treated TOS in the UK. Have found one by the name of Charles Mawell-Armstrong on a study of TOS surgery but when i called the hospital, they have never heard of him!!. Tried to google him but this turned up nothing!

I do not know where to look next so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hope everyone is well

Hello my dear,
hope you are feeling better today. Glad to see the old tos strength is back and you are up for the fight!!!

I found the same guy and found a bio on him. He may have done the study in his residency (not sure what that is called in uk???) but not quite a doctor yet. still studying.....
check out his study link.

He could help you get to the other surgeons on the list.

also in this link
http://www.rcsed.ac.uk/Journal/vol46_1/4610006.htm
in the references check out who he referenced and do research on them.
It is all a long tedious task but I am willing to help you.

I believe he is in this picture in this link
http://www.colo-care.com/pages/profiles2.htm
he likely did a rotation with a vascular guy and found tos interesting or wanted to get something published.
My boyfriend is a doctor and has agreed that the above is possible.

So a place to start anyhow.....see what you want and need and we can go from there.
love and hugs,
Victoria...ps I am Scottish born there came to canada when I was 2 but lived in scotland since for a short time.....now in Calgay Canada!

hugs,
V

a thousand thank you's Vic!. Yep im back into battle today - i just get so determined with it that i take set backs quite hard.

Earlier on today i was calling around trying to locate this mysterious Dr Maxwell Armstrong and i spoke to a hospital in north london and a very nice secretary (which is rare!) who said she had not heard of dr maxwell armstrong but did a search on a website called drfoster.co.uk and said that he does rectal work?!. However the dr she works under is vascular so i sent an email with my history and this is what she came back with....

Dear Tracey,

Professor Hamilton has read your email. He says he would be happy to see you here if your GP will refer you. TOS is something he sees quite a lot of.

I asked him whether he had heard of Mr Maxwell-Armstrong but he has not so it is doubtful whether he is a vascular surgeon, but I cannot think why a colorectal surgeon would be writing articles about TOS.

Kind regards,

Sarah

not sure if this it is worth me visiting this guy or not? what do you think? is there anythink else i should ask her before even bothering with trying to get a referral to this guy?

i have googled a couple of those drs mentioned in the refs and the first couple only mention the US but did see one in nottingham (i live in london but travelling i think will be a necessity to get to see someone with an idea about TOS!)

Thanks again for all your help and you are sooooo kind to offer to help me, its greatly appreciated!
xx

Default keep fighting!!

Glad to see the fight in you is going strong agian today!!
If the doc is willing to see you go for it but always remember that you are interviewing the doc not the other way around. You need to know how many cases of tos he sees a year how many surgeries he does a year what kind of surgery does he do. What are his standard tests before a surgery....ie: total work up to see what is really going on with you.

lots to ask and perahps an email could do that for you if you ask really politley all the above questions. Docs really want to help sometimes it's the system that stinks the whole thing up. If the doc is genuine and you in your email to him tell him about your vascular symptoms (Sx) then perhaps he will see that you need to be seen asap as you could cause even more damage if you go untreated or uninvestigated. You could also write in your email all your Sx and tell him you are worried about permenant nerve damage and vascular damage. If it is vasc. you could end up with a blood clot and have very serious damage!! So express that in your letter and go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no harm in trying and asking questions!!

take care and keep up the good fight we all have to do!!!
love and hugs,
Victoria
