Junie- that just sucks! I hate to hear that their are docs out there like that. I can't believe that they would put you through that and have the nerve to tell you its ALL in your head. I might have lost it at that point and pointed out some of his shortcomings. not productive, but it makes me feel better- temporarily. I hope your ins. can work something out with you.

About 5 years ago I saw a doctor that was almost the same. He was quick and would brush me off. The worst was his office staff. His nurse was like a drill sargent. I use to have nightmares the night before I had to go to his office.
I had botox injections scheduled and my husband actually took me to the appointment because I couldn't drive after. Turns out that my insurance had decided not to cover the botox and the drill sargent starts yelling at me for it and telling me she didn't know why I showed up for the appointment. I had no idea. My husband fired the doctor right then and there. When you deal with chronic pain you need to have a doctor and staff that are empathetic and will take the time for you. You need to move on. It took me a while but I finally found doctors that are not only intelligent but compassionate. Don't give up hope. |
Hi Jessica.Sorry to hear about your consult with the unprofesssional. Plus the language is unacceptable.I have TOS in both arms(proven through doppler studies). My dominant arm is the one producing enough symtoms to warrant surgery. I too had a hard time finding a doc.I live in Ontario Canada.Where I live there is only one who luckily I found through my work(xray technologist) .I too heard many who either didn't understand it or who did not believe it exists. But I, you and everyone here knows it does.I have had my rib resection and am back to good health. Keep searching .

Update
Well I gave that doc one last try, and he brushed me off. He said if I was willing to pay out of pocket he could write me better prescriptions. I told him that is what I have insurance for and couldn't afford to pay out of pocket. He also suggested physical therapy again. I said it didn't work the last 2 times and I wasn't willing to go through that pain again. He then commented since I wasn't willing to take any of his suggestions that he couldn't help me. He wrote me 2 scripts for Topamax and Furoset and said when I get better insurance come and see him again. Yeah right let me call him again! Thanks alot you quack!!!!! Thank you all for your kind words and advice. I will keep looking for a doctor that actually cares. I miss Dr. Togut!:( |
as i read your posts, the pictures of me flooding my last dr's office floor with tears all comes back to me!. he had brushed me off and said it's prob all muscular!.
i hope im now on route to seeing a dr who is actually experienced with tos, and hasnt just read about it...!. However, im not getting my hopes up as its too emotionally draining to be let down again. Best wishes with your search x |

I was going to suggest reporting that clown anyways for his rudeness, but now you HAVE to report him........to the medical board in your state, the local hospital that he is affiliated with, and to your insurance company ! You'll get better scripts if you pay privately !?!?! That is criminal ! |
I am beginning to think that all doctors are crazy - it's just a matter of how much.
Ask him if TOS is not "real", then what would he call a catastrophic injury to the side of the neck that is barring proper nerve conduction, blood circulation and use of the arm. He can pick the name himself. |
