Default For the women with TOS...

I have TOS and I am 26 years old. I have large boobs (34 D-DD) and have a huge discomfort wearing bras with my TOS. I wear sports bras most of the time, but they still push down on my shoulder and it feels like someone is pushing down hard which causes my whole right arm to go numb and I get horrible symptoms. The left side isn't as bad as the right.

Any other ladies deal with this, and any certain brand of bra that lessens the pain it causes? Any bras out there that will still allow me to dress like a lady? I feel like a dork wearing sports bras all the time.

Try wacoal brand. Also go to some place that has professional fitters (some high ehd department stores and some speciality stores). A fitter told me many women don't actually wear the correct size when tested and this can lead to additional weight on your shoulders.

+1 on Wacoal.

My dr. said she recommends for those with bad TOS at a young age to get a breast reduction. Not quite ready for that, thanks.

There's also a new brand, called Butterfly, that's got a whole new fastening system...here:

Haven't tried one, but I'd be interested in others' experience.

I have two Bras that I found comfortable. I use to wear a playtex with gel straps but a friend told me about a Bali that was comfy and not the mega hooks my boulder holders usually have.

On a splurge a few weeks ago I added to my needs with the BREEZIES from on QVC. They wick away, feel like nothing and support without weight on the shoulders. I bought the underwire, beige and cream color. Run really true to size, to a tad bit smaller. The Bali I use on the short hook, the feel of not wearing a bra is great. So mow I have four really nice bras. I like that the breezies only has three hooks for the 42 DD. IT advertises a wick away feature too.

I know stapless is what is recommended but with boulders to hold up I need straps.

I love the DKNY or Donna Karan sports bras I got at my local Lucy store. Sooo comfy and minimizing and nice wide straps.

Hi Shelly!
Do they carry them in super boulder holders?

Thanks for the responses. I'll check those out. If anyone knows any others, let me know. I go see Dr. Sanders next week for the first time.

For 8 years I have gone through the same ordeal as you.
Tried everything.
The only thing I now wear are cami's from Nordstrom.
I pull down the straps on my right side more than the left. At least I have some on that will keep me from jiggling. Sorry, gents.

I know that you said that a breast reduction is not an option now. A few years back I saw Dr. Togut who recommended that I have one. I did have the procedure. Yes, I had some discomfort for a couple of weeks but honestly it is the best thing I ever done.

I don't know how much it really helped with the pain but I do think that my large boobs were making things worse.

With a diagnosis like TOS, most insurances will cover the procedure. Just something to think about down the road.

Here is somthing ironic... Im an 34 A, so I have to spend a fortune on bras to make me look like I have boobs (thank god for 'molded' cups - the hard cups basically sit on my chest with nothing in them!) but after my rib resection I have to have thin straps that are positioned far out on my shoulders to not irritate where that scalene muscle once was. Victorias Secret "Body by Victoria" bras are pretty decent, for me anyway.
