Not sure if I posted this already but I went to my doctor's appointment last week and he is sending me for an MRI..he said I'm not sure that it's TOS now only because of the tingling/numbness is in your thumb, index and middle finger...TOS affects your ring and little finger. I have talked with other's who have said their thumb, index and middle finger is affected.

I was wondering have any of you had cramping in your hands? It's hard to discribe but I can actually feel it coming on. When I hold a phone with my right hand my bone behind my little finger will actually move under my ring finger bone..it's like it goes out of joint I have to actually push it back into place. This also happens to my other fingers. I can't cut up my own meat because my index finger will actually go straight down into the palm of my hand.

I go back to my spine surgeon tomorrow, he is the one that sent me to my othropedic oncologist to be checked out because he thought my bone tumor in my right humerus had come back. So I will be sure to tell him that the doc thinks I might have TOS..they haven't mentioned doing doppler yet. Maybe he is waiting for me to have the MRI first.

This week has been a bad week of pain for me, I can't even raise my right arm at all and alot of pain by my shoulder blade.

Do any of you ever had pain in your rib area in the back? Sometimes it feels like there is a lump there.

Well that's a little update still waiting to hear what exactly is going on with me.

Oh quick little note here...My car insurance is requiring me to apply for social security disability..so I did that online and I have spoken to a guy on the phone. Now they sent me this huge packet to fill out..most of the questions have been asked both on the only app and by the guy I talked to...it is taking me forever to fill this out because I can't write for any longer than 10 minutes at a time because my hand cramps up....I can't believe what you have to go through to get the money that you have paid into for all these years....

I used to get sharp cramps in the back of my hands , at work we had a lot of fine finger use and pinch grip- but never got any bone or finger lock ups.

I know a few have mentioned a "clawing" of the hand at times.
Mostly those with severe long time cases.
Ring & pinky fingers {ulnar nerve} sx are the usual & more common problem w/TOS but I believe the other nerves can be affected also.

It gets down to the ruling in or out of other possible causes.
If no other cause is found then TOS would be the culprit.

I get sore muscles and/or triggerpoints across my shoulders & upper back - but sometimes when chiro checks there are tender spots that I hadn't noticed. They go away after he does adjustments and ultrasound.aaahhh...

I think its mart to get all of it checked out.

I was dx with TOS and still am. But it as my thumb and index finger that wen numb and tingled the most. Both sides. While my TOS aggravates that it is a cervical issue with c5/c6. Doc called it a retrolithesis/subluxation. Mention it to the spine doc. MRI's don't often show it because you are lying down and your neck is in an ok position. Ask for extension and flexion x-rays that way its shows what happens when you neck moves.

THe painful shoulder could be related. BUt also you might want to talk to your doc about frozen shoulder. I currently have that and its painful and I certainly cannot lift my left arm.

Good luck at the docs. Remember sometimes its a combination of things not just one and they can certainly feed off each other. For some it is TOS for someone like me I learned I had several weaknesses that feed off each other and I have learned their individual signs and learned how to adjust to each and treat them.

hi,
my whole hand arm face ear and neck will go numb....all originating in the brachial plexus nerve root!!!! So any fingers can go numb and I get cramping really badly if i write or type for too long.

Thank you everyone, It is going to be a long road I know..See I've had 3 cervical spine surgeries. The first was in Dec 2005 they took out C6 and put in a metal plate and fused C5 - C7. Then I was in that really bad car accident. 2 boys stole a car and hit me head on going 95+ mph..I'm thankful I am alive. So I went in for a 2nd surgery they put a rod in the back of my neck that is when all the numbness started, I woke up in recovery numb. Went through tests Emg's their thought was I had a nerve touching somewhere, so I was taken back in just this past Aug. to remove the rod, still numb. The doc thought maybe my bone tumor had come back so he sent me to my Orthopedic Oncologist to make sure that is when he told me he thought it was possible TOS. I go for an MRI on Nov. 3, but today I go back to my spine surgeon and I will tell him everything the other doctor told me. They know each other they were in practice together, but my oncologist moved further north west of the state.

My ring finger and little finger does the same as yours does. Mine does it when I am holding a fork or holding my arm the wrong way. I do believe Jo is right on this. I think it's other nerves involved.

I took pictures of mine so I can show them to my hand surgeon when I get to see him. I am busy with other issues so it's kind of on a long list of things to have taken care of but it is getting worse. I have to massage my finger and it feels like in the palm of my hand there is a knot and it does hurt.

You might want to find a hand surgeon to check it out. You can have other things besides the TOS going on. I have had 2 rotator cuff surgeries, one ulner nerve and a triggerfinger and still have carpal, cubital, and radial nerve syndrome.
