Default Vascular TOS, Cervical rib?

I have vascular TOS from a cervical rib. Both Dr. Sanders and Dr. Brantigan want to do c-rib/first rib resection. I have been told it's a matter of WHEN not IF I have the Sx. My symptoms don't seem to be as debilitating as I have read here. Can anyone weigh-in one their investigations? Is there another alternative to surgery? I have been told, it really is just a matter of time before I get a blood clot or blockage... and that a planned Sx is better (obviously preferred to my hand turning blue or gangrene or etc and a ER Sx).

But I have also read Sx should be my last option, and obviously these Drs are surgeons, they have a vested interest in giving me a surgery. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something.

One last thing to note, my rarity of conditions seems to have a 95% or better chance of full recovery and resolution of symptoms from Sx. But, how many ppl does that really include in that 95%?

Thanks

Those are some of the top guys.
And a cervical rib surg has the highest rated for success.
Because it is something that is actually a physical anomaly & it can be removed and that will make more space.

Vs - maybe a rib resection maybe will make more space

I think the results ratings must be from a collection of many surgeons & their cases, but not exactly sure on that.

Concoulor -

First - each person's outcome is unique based on their individual circumstances and the doctor's skill.

My first surgery was on the right side and my 1st rib turned out to be abnormal (extra large). I was told to expect 80 to 90% relief but so far, I have had complete relief of symptoms on the right side and I'm going on 7 years now. I was able to start using the hand to grab things again within a few months. I can hold a pen today and write, or use that hand to hold a fork. Pre-surgery - I couldn't grasp anything.

I do have vascular TOS on the opposite side due to a cervical rib. I haven't been advised to have surgery but to wait until the symptoms are severe enough. Based on how I faired with the 1st surgery, I think people who have an underlying reason for developing TOS do tend to fair better but it also depends on how long the symptoms have been present and obviously the surgeon's skill. I am developing nerve type symptoms on the left so surgery is getting closer. I just don't want another major surgery . . .

Good luck with your decision!
