Surgery update

I had surgery on May 11 and am still recovering. The pain has been sort of managed by morphine and vicodin. If I don't take the morhpine every 2 hours, the pain gets ridiculous. I can last 4 hours on two vicodin.

The itching has been the thing that has bothered me the most. I have hives all over my body and was up for 4 nights this week itching all night long. I finally got a full night's sleep (well sort of, had to get up to take vicodin) and even slept in until 2pm today.

I remember my last surgery in 2005 took me several months to recover from. I'm a slow healer. This surgery has been pretty slow healing from as well. The doctor wants me on pain killers so that I will move my arm - he doesn't want the arm to freeze or lock up on me because recovery from that is worse.

I'm a total zombie.

The doctor said that the scar tissue was worse this time then when he went in in 2005 and I should have come in earlier. They couldn't tell what was what and it too them a few hours to do the surgery. He's hoping that this will be the last surgery on this arm. I'm hoping that I don't have permanent nerve damage from waiting so long.

Doctor also said that I need to come in and have the right rib removed as soon as I heal from this surgery. He said he is highly suspicious that things are worse in the right arm since it's been left untouched since the accident. It's been 5 years since the accident.

I am not looking forward to this surgery but already can feel my right arm fatiguing out since I've had to use it so much while healing from the left arm surgery.

Will keep you posted as to my progress. So far it's slow going. But don't take my situation and apply it to yours - everyone is different. My daughter was up and running in 2 weeks and hasn't looked back after her 2 surgeries. I'm older and have more health problems and it will take some time for me to recover.

Have a great week!
