I was searching on the internet for TS information one time and I found a website about a man called "The Tourettes Guy" who supposedly had TS and he was being filmed while ticcing (swearing and jerking). The man was also drinking. I also found some of the videos on YouTube as well. Things like this are giving people a terrible perception Tourettes. Making it seem like we are crazy. Here is a link to the site: http://www.tourettesguy.com/

I've seen some real doozies over the years. Some sites you'll never be able to change, but other ones you can. I found worse in Wikipedia once would you believe it... someone just set up their own page there and filled it with expletives. I have seen the to.uret.tesgu.y one years back, and I don't remember seeing that disclaimer on it like it has these days. I figure the amount of complaints he got made him add that. A lot of these sites have been running for many years and there are worse.
Of course, ones like that one you mentioned are purpose-built and it's definitely not there to spread correct information about TS. Sometimes it's just best to ignore some altogether. It depends. People might be surprised how much can be changed if we write to them and adding correct information. I found a government site for a British island in the English Channel and the info. about TS that they had in their health section was just dreadfully wrong and out-of-date. What I did in that case was to write to the TS organization in the UK and they had it fixed within a week. Bingo. |

I've seen the tourette's guy.. actually i check up on it about once a month or so... I talk with others who have posted on this website and used to use the old chat rooms, and they see the website as well.
I can see how it can be very offensive to many people, but for some reason when i watch it i can't help but laugh. I guess i just find it amusing to watch really big guy make a fool out of himself intentionally and not care that the entire world watches... I have ts, and so do the others who also find the site amusing. I've never found it obnoxious or anything when someone says, oh tourettes that swearing things... because when you think about it, its the ideal opportunity to correct their thinking and usually its opened up a conversation where the person actually wants to know more. This guy is just so pathetic... he's funny... |

I used to post on a newsgroup specific to TS for many years until it was taken over by usenet trolls and rendered totally useless... anyway, years ago there was this Tourette's Barbie site and I was actually surprised at the number of people who found it funny. I personally found it pointless, but probably because I'd seen some of the other ones that had been made, e.g. leprosy barbie etc.. Everyone has their own sense of humour that's for sure.
