Crazy stress free?? can it be?

So my son has TS, ADHD, and has started having anexity attacks. He goes into meltdown mode over time. He worries about being late or left at school to point of an attack. He calls 3-4 times a day from school. Let me add that he has never been late or forgotten (not even close). He wants to leave our home about an hour early even though we only live about 7 min away. I try to make our mornings as stress less as possible. I have this week changed the kitchen clock to 30 min slow and that has helped a touch but it will not be long before he finds me out. I know it sounds awful to trick him but we all needed some relief.

His current shoulder tics have made sleeping hard, we have started using Epson salt this week so hopefully that will help. He gets very upset about that as well which only makes things worse and then he wants me to lay with him until he falls asleep.

We need some stress free moments, any suggestions??

hudsmom, that's a really difficult question really.
I'm sorry he's experiencing this anxiety. My son had really bad anxiety when he was little... similar story to what you've described although he got to the stage he just refused to go to school at all and that wasn't a very good time I remember.

I guess the only real practical suggestion I can make right now would be to keep sticking to a routine. I remember at one time when things were really difficult that I used to spend a fair bit of time at our junior school helping out with reading and doing some odd jobs in the office. I was also fortunate in a couple of the grades to have really wonderful teachers who were helpful and understanding.

Hopefully the baths before bed will soon help him be able to get a better night of sleep. Hopefully also that those painful shoulder tics will be gone soon.

edited to add: I've read this author's book on OCD which was excellent but haven't read this particular one on Anxiety.
I have heard excellent reviews however.

Thanks so much. I will look for the book. We have 5 school days left and we can't wait! We will also be going on vacation in about 3 weeks so I'm hoping that will help but you know summer just flashes by.

Ahhh, 5 days to go. Probably why he's a bit extra stressed.
I always loved the holidays/breaks. [I'm in southern hemisphere. I miss summer already and it was a very long summer this past year.]
Your library may have any books you want to read. It can get a bit expensive buying so many over time.

I have spent the afternoon reading that link. Oh my goodness thank you so much for sending that. We were already working on updating his current IEP at school and now we will be including some of this! Thanks so much.

We love the beach and I can't wait for us to get back to. I love how life just slows down.

I just found a link when I was looking elsewhere ... there's some interesting ideas in this, Hudsmom. It talks about explaining anxiety and what is actually going on physically, really to make them more reassured... more below
