Bless his little pointed head!!! LOL He will be 18 on Tuesday and it feels like time has just flown by..... I honestly do remember the day he was born. It so clear like it was just yesterday. I dont know exactly why i'm posting other than to encourage those of you who have children with tourettes. It hasn't been an easy road, but when i look at scott and see the amazing individual he has become it makes me proud. He is a junior in HS this year. He has accomplished so many things that I thought were unobtainable for him.
Our pediatric neurologist dismissed him a couple weeks ago and referred him to an adult neurologist. I do have a question for those of you who have older children with tourettes. This new neurologist is big on botox injections for eye tics. Its NOT going to happen as scott has such a fear of needles, but i was wondering if anybody here has heard of that and if it works... We meet with this new dr in June and i know he is going to suggest it and i want to get as much information about it before we go in to see him. I'm very dubious about this procedure. ANWYAY i just wanted to pop in and say hello and give a mini update on Scott. His tics and vocalizations are a little elevated right now, but he is preparing to go to contest both in vocal music AND an individual contest in bio technology. He is totally excited about both competitions. Bio Technology,(i think) is going to be what he pursues after he graduates next year with a minor in music. Take care and i hope you guys have a great day!!! Vicky |

yeah...my guy turned 18 in december! re the botox....i know the TSA have had some articles on it etc etc, but what would put me off is that there are so many issues arising with people harmed by the botox as a cosmetic thing this spring season seems to have brought out a lot of tics for many, my son included, tho overall he is doing great. yay to Scott for the music and biotech competitions. hope he wows 'em and wins

Vicky,
WOW!!!! Great news. I wanted to add my congrats, too!!! My guy was 18 last September.....finishing his freshman year in college and doing SUPER-made Dean's list . He is into Latin and Greek language, literature and culture. I, too, very clearly remember the day he was born like it was yesterday . It has been so gratying to see what a nice young man he has grown into. We had many bumps along the way as you all have too but life is looking up! I am so glad to hear the news of Scott's successes and interests. I think it is important to post the good news for folks to hear, too. Chemar, has your son decided on college....is he a senior or junior-I've lost track? My younger guy is into music-plays the drums and a bit of guitar. He definitely has an occasional tic but not TS I'd say. Happy Spring to you all (oh when will it really come up here?). Take care, Tessa |
