I was reflecting today just how much my son benefits from weekly chiropractic "maintenance" that we have come to feel is an integral part of the overall therapy that he receives from the various treatments that seem to keep his TS (and his Crohn's Disease) manageable without pharmaceutical medications
We see a chiro who is also certified in NUCCA and who additionally uses a variety of chiropractic techniques that my son can actually immediately feel benefit from, again in terms of both of his conditions. I have researched a fair bit on both and so I know that there are biochemical mechanisms "primarily" (for want of a better word as they are both multi-facted disorders) at the root ( ie. inflammation in Crohn's and neurotransmitter system issues in TS ) so it really does fascinate me re the backflow of benefit from neuromuscular therapy as in the chiro stuff my son receives. our chiro's rationale is "the thigh bones connected to the............." as the song goes. and I am certainly aware of that holistic aspect in both of my son's conditions....so many seemingly unrelated things can set them off or help them stabilize. anyway, I am really writing this down as more of a journal entry for myself so that I can remember how I noticed a flare up in tics/OCD and Crohn's pain almost immediately subside after his evening chiro appt on Friday. Along with relief for him, my ole researcher's brain is also seeking more info on all this so that I can gain more understanding. any thoughts from others here? Cheri
