Lightbulb Tourette Syndrome & Media: New Book, Billie Eilish and more -

I am very encouraged to see Billie Eilish being open about living with TS - and her recent interview with David Letterman on Netflix certainly has brought much needed focus to hopefully foster more understanding.

There's also a new book by a young Welsh girl that got some attention:
Tourette'''s: Girl, 12, hopes her book will help other children - BBC News

I guess my main critique of that BBC article would be that "medication and behavioural therapy" is not the only way to help manage TS - as many who have focused on a more natural treatment protocol than Rx meds can attest.

But, most important is for a neurological condition that is still so very misunderstood to get more attention and understanding.

Default books

Thanks for posting those.

Sadly I still find there are so many derogatory remarks made in tv shows and movies to this day. So many of us in the late 1990s and 2000s onwards spent so much time and energy reaching out and trying to right many wrongs. i.e. The "oh I have a little bit of tourettes" type remarks during drunken, screaming, rages by people who call themselves "real" housewives of wherever, and worse.

So I am always hopeful that these books are helpful. If only people had more understanding now in 2022 all these years later and realized that medication (or in fact any type of intense focus to "get rid of tics", be that medicinal or even supplemental) and behaviour therapy are not needed as much as education and tolerance of and by everyone as individuals.

thanks Chemar. I look forward to checking them out.
