Lightbulb Interesting 2020 Research Study on potential TS Treatment

News - Stimulating research gives new treatment hope for Tourette Syndrome - University of Nottingham

Quote:
New research has found that delivering electrical pulses to the wrist can significantly reduce the amount and severity of tics experienced by individuals with Tourette Syndrome (TS), giving new hope for an effective treatment.
When my son was going through severe onset of TS years ago, his CBT therapist suggested an elastic wrist band to be gently snapped when the tics, and especially the Tourettic OCD was intrusive. It had an amazing calming effect on my son, though I found it peculiar at the time. I wonder if that reaction was in some way linked to a pathway indicated in this study?
