Hi I’ve got a neurology appointment next month too discuss my tics I was just wondering what should I expect ? And if I tell you my symptoms cause you advise if it sounds like Tourette’s or if it’s a different type of tic disorder
Im 29 years old and I’ve had tics all my life, or at least as far back as I can remember I have many motor tics and have always had them and lots of them lol there not complex there normally like grimacing moving my eyebrows tensing my neck and over muscle groups pulling funny faces etc lol but I’ve never really had any vocal tics apart from grunting and clearing my throat I do that all the time but is this a vocal tic ? I’m not sure lol anyways if anyone could offer any advice or if someone had a similar experience with a diagnosis that would be great ! Thank you |

Hi there
Only a qualified doctor can really assess you in person/telehealth for TS diagnosis, but you can find a lot of info in the helpful resources section here that may give you some insight: Useful Websites & Resources for Tourette Syndrome What is Tourette Syndrome? Just do be aware that often conventional neurologists will diagnose and then immediately offer a medication for tics. Do be sure you inform yourself about any meds pros & cons, and especially known side effects. There are other ways of helping tics. A website with a lot of info on that is here: What is Tourette Syndrome? - A Comprehensive Overview | ACN Latitudes I hope that gives you some insight, and that your appointment goes well. Let us know. |
