I have posed this question before but can't really go back to search old forums .
Now that we are paying college tuition bills (ouch ) I really need to start looking at high quality fish oil at a cheaper price. I currently use a brand that offers 300mg EPA and 200mg DHA per cap with 1 U viamin E but the cost is 17.90 per bottle of 60 caps. I really do like this product but am trying to cut corners wherever I can! I am looking for something similar. I know Mrs. D has mentioned Costco in previous postings. I would be grateful for recommendations of brands and specific types (also where to buy). Thanks in advance for any help . Take care, Tessa |

Hi Tessa
my son is sensitive to fish oil so we use flaxseed oil instead, but honestly, by far the best value and for good brand products that I have found is at iherb.com even factoring in the shipping (which is low compared with many) I get our supplements there at way lower than even the good prices at Vitamin Shoppe, where I go locally now only for specific things that they carry, or when they are having those great sales. vitaminshoppe.com is also online if you dont have one of their stores near you Most of the fish oil products I hear spoken highly of on Latitudes are, I think, in the pricier range. Hoping mrsD will be visiting here and see this as she may have some good pointers for you both in terms of cost and quality. I know she recently had a thread on EFAs running on the Vitamin forum here so maybe peek in there too or ask as I know she checks in there frequently Cheri

We use both Costco or Sam's double strength enteric coated ones now.
It just depends on where we are shopping that day. Very reasonable if you have a card with either of them. I believe the quality is good. ConsumerLab did not find heavy metals in any of their teste products. And the enteric coated ones go down better. Here is a link to ConsumerLab.com: http://www.consumerlab.com/results/omega3.asp Puritan's Pride is also very good, and typically affordable. We buy our basic things from there. Vit C, Bcomplex, thiamine etc. They have an enteric coated one now that is reasonable: http://www.puritan.com/pages/iq.asp?...mageField.y=18 you'd have to use two of these to get what you currently want in dose. I've used Puritan's for years... the buy one get 2 free sale is done twice a year (it was during the summer) and is a real bargain if you plan for it. This 1/2 off is good too. I have found Puritan's high on specialty items tho..so watch out. Their ginger root is really a value, and I really like their Formula 100 for my B's and other minerals. http://www.puritan.com/pages/file.as...CID=&CPID=8126

I remembered the name of the one we used before we realized my son had the sensitivity to fish oil...Carlson. I chose them because of reputation for fishoil not contaminated with heavy metals Its available at iherb too and seems to be much less than you are paying for yours I think http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=2799

Can't really contribute to answering the question... my son is still little and uses the strawberry flavored Children's DHA capsules from Nordic Naturals. But I do know that theirs isn't contaminated with heavy metals as well. You could check into Nordic Naturals other products, but I'm really not sure how Nordic Naturals compares price wise though.

Hi All,
Thank you for your replies ! It has been a busy week and I'm just getting to check back. Mrs. D....I do remember reading that Consumer report awhile back. We do have a Costco not too far from here, though I've never been in it-it's just not in a direction that I generally visit. I will make a trip there. I don't think there is a Sam's Club though. The Puritan prices are great, though. Thanks for the link! I have heard good things about Nordic naturals. I remember reading about their products on the old boards. Seems to me they had that whipped up orange flavored kind, too. I know folks liked their brand but I think it was pricey, too. I'll do my comparison shopping and report back. Take care, Tessa |
