[QUOTE=who moi;508491]thanks again for all your concerns and good thoughts and great advices, everyone...We ALL LOVE YOU!!!

I have been deteriorating a bit faster than I thought or had liked...

hate to see moss fuss over moi.. *sigh.. I feel very badly that you are getting worse Try to keep positive thoughts..even if you don't believe in that stuff...it really does help..Also, Moss LOVES you even more than we do & if she loves you, she will feel blessed to help you...although tired I am sure....also very sure you are being on BEST behavior

sorry I haven't been around...two very active kids around and all of us trying to adjust and my health declining a bit faster...haven't not even lurked...and I am known to live around NT. LOL

so, first of all (((BIG HUGS))) to all...gosh, I missed them and I missed given them...I have been away most the time also Moi, & I feel the same

alrighty..let's see if my boggled, fuzzy wuzzy brain can make any sense...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
got my MRI, they put it on a CD which was cool. IF anyone gets really bored and would like a copy, please send $19.95 plus shipping and handling and I'll be glad to send a copy of it to the music of "bones"...LOL
just kidding...Funny man
when I went to see the spine doc, he basically walked into the room with his eyes like a blowfish (well, his cheeks too). He was surprised that I wasn't in a lot more pain than I described and that I am moving around balanced...
basically, my C3-C7 and part of my T1 is not good...impingement to the spinal cord along with disc problems and such...
his definitive thought on it is: surgery...
replacing all 5 (or 6 if T1 is needed) in one shot with cadaver bones (*shiver...even though I know it is common and I know it is a gift...it still made me shiver to my...well...bones...) then, the infusement of them all with screws and "brackets" to make it stronger... Moi, my sis had several of her same disc's removed, & replaced as your speaking of...she had it done over this past Thanksgiving....She felt better almost immediately....of course there is pain to get thru,,but it was a different type of pain, and it got better, but of course it's still too early to tell....She does Not have the tics though, so yeah...what an obstacle you have to climb over! I KNOW you can do it though!!:
his concern, however, isn't with the surgery itself...it is with the way I tic..
basically, I ticced myself into this situation and I need a good 6 weeks of recovery that I need to be VEWY VEWY still...
I am not sure how I could do that...
he was very nice and concerned that he called us the day after around 7pm...he talked to a neuro...guess who..the one that I don't like...LOL
but he stated that the neuro said that if we can just get me under control for that 6 weeks even with the side effects, it might be worth it....
moss agrees and I do...to some degree...
the "attacks" can get so severe that I am not sure which ones I wanted to endure..
and now, with two kids around...I am not sure how realistic it is for me to be "sedated" for 6 weeks of recovery...
but...I guess it needs to be done...I AM feeling more and more "dizzy" each day and feel like I am in a haze...my hearing on my right side is almost gone..
I'm sorry Moi, but yeah, it sounds like this is needed...soon..Your Grandmois will be a Great help to you!lol
my problematic fingers are getting harder for me to want to type...
and the other craps and problems...
but ya know, we all have something and my problem isn't any bigger than anyone elses...(but taking this time to whine a bit...LOL )
I feel really bad for not being here...*sigh...
I just feel like I don't want to suck the support out of folks that really need it...ya know?? so much going on at the moment...and that's not fair to folks...Hey,,,,suck away..that's why we are ALL here, to help each other!
don't worry, I've had my pity party already this past week and got my "big boys don't cry" done....
I am ready to face it...
going to get a second opinion and see how we can deal with the kids situation and then head to surgery...GIT-R-Done...
~~~~~~~~~~~

while I am at it, I might was well throw in something here...

I am not sure if this happens to anybody else..but why is it that whenever I opened up a new bar of soap, I always manage to drop it on my foot and it hurts like Charles' Thickens???

and why is it that although it is next to impossible, I always try to meld the old tiny soap to the new soap....

the problem is, the old soap bar would often break into tiny pieces and then now I am doing a "puzzle" of them over the new soap and it usually looks the the map of Mars...

(that's usually when I would drop them...AHA!! *lightbulb moment!!)

*note to self...meld soap, drop on foot...

OH well, nevermind...guess I answered my own question...Ever try LIQUID SOAP?????LOL

thank you all once again for your thoughts and prayers...

my surgery was a success....

I now am worth more than gold (I've heard that per ounce, titanium is worth more than gold) because there are enough titaniums in my now for robbers to rob my grave. (wait, they might rob me and just cut my neck off if they knew...)

my team of doctors are happy with my progress. I think they made some last minute decision to put extra hardwares in me. I was told that they have put more hardwares in me more than anyone else they ever had...

I am discovering that recovery is not linear....there are good days and bad days...

I am discovering that being a mule isn't good either, because I tend to over do it because I feel good then I pay for it later.

The funny thing is, I have rode a bike already (and got scolded by da wife. LOL) and I was fine (even though I wobbled like crazy).

but I hurt myself playing charade...ROFL.........

go figure....

and I hurt myself last night coughing....I am still choking when I eat and and I coughed so hard I think I coughed a screw loose...

anyways, some numbness and tinglings are back but I have an appt next week...

other than that, I feel pretty good...

the one thing that I have noticed..is that my neck tic has "decreased"

I am not sure if it is because my range of motion has decreased or because I felt less "ticcy" in that area...but it truly has decreased...

also, my TMJ seem to be better...I no longer am biting the inside of my mouth and having to chew on a mouth guard ALL the time...only some of the time..

so, the pluses are good...
most of all, all my digits are back in tact...I can feel them all now, they can all bend...that being torched sensation is no longer around....

I feel "tingly" sometimes but the doctor says that's normal....

well, sorry to waste cyber ink on this report....but I thought I owe you guys that...

((((BIG HUGS))))) and thanks a bunch

moi

I've had them before when I didn't know that I had Tourette's. Now I know and I can redirect.

When I didn't know, I was putting my necks into kinks and allthat. Hurt real bad but it would only be there for a few days at most.

Default ticks

as long as i can remember i have had ticks in my face and my necks and sometimes with other parts of my body. over the years i have met people who thought i was on drugs due to the ticks or tics. i went to a neuroligist 3 months ago and was dianosist with tourette. i have been taking some medication in the xanax family colonipin at night to see if it helps. i have not noticed any difference. i do not have vocal issues just body, face and neck issues. anyone have this same preoblems. i applied for a new job and i know for a fact because someone overheard them talking that i was not picked due to they thought i was on drugs and i have not been on drugs nor would i ever be. broke my heart!!

for years, i've had severe neck tic. i knew 1 day it would wreck havoc on my spine 1 day.

tried a lot of things including pressure.

either way. i think it has caught up w/ me...

besides neck pain, i now feel burning pain on my right hand that i think is nerve/spine related.

it is a burning pain. like it's on fire whenever i would jerk the neck (& only when i jerk the neck do i feel it and i am going through a major waxing of it as of late)

then there is the other constant pain where i have various tics with my hand that includes bending them the other way against my face or body or wall. and hitting/punching tics against objects...

as lara has suggested, i think is a x-over with complusive(OC) & tics combined
(hate the co-morbids,eh? )

as w/ the waxing. i have damaged my knuckles on my index and middle finger. cannot bend my index/middle nor extend them fully. Those pains are constant. 24/7 and has now gotten to the point of keeping me awake even if i take the sleeping pills.

i think i may have developed some arthritis w/ my banging/bending tics of my hand. and have been taking aspirin and back on my glucosamin/msm

hate to cry about it...not really a complainer..

the spine issue bugs me more actually...

i am going to see a doc next week about my spine as my wife and i suspect either spurs and/or pressed spine issues. or may have just ticced the spines heckit outta place...

i am not sure what my outlook is but will accept it as what is and find ways to deal w/ it although my must admit i have been defeating myself the past few days. but i'll come out of it. it is better than losing the ability to walk like when i was 14 yo. w/severe leg tics. (it lasted about a year)

(interestingly enough. besides my vocal and facial tics. most of my tics below the neck are on my right side...hmmmm...)

i guess i am asking to see if anyone has experienced something similar. i know there isn't much to do about it.

i feel it as a progressive issue. the neck tics are not going to stop. will i am not going to let it stop me.

i've been learning to type faster w/ 1 hand.

love to hear inputs.

ps may take me awhile to respond...

came back to add:

trying to describe my neck tic: it's a violent jerk to my right where my rt shoulder would hit my face and i can feel my spine pop

Hi and welcome

my son and husband have TS and both have found that medication really didnt help much but supplements like magnesium (they use the Natural Calm powder) B vitamins etc and careful diet really do make a big difference

I have a thread here on what has been helpful
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread1145.html

I am not sure if you are aware that Tourette now falls under the Americans with Disability Act and so it is against the law to be discriminated against because of the TS (like happened with that job interview where they should have been told, no, not drugs, it is TS)

there is lots that can be done to make life with TS better, without having to resort to strong prescriptions

we look forward to getting to know you
