Default Anyone have this?

I've always had bad migraines, but about a year ago I started getting them more often, and they came with other symptoms, like mild confusion and some convulsions, which were present even when the headaches were not. The situation was debilitating and I failed out of college because of it.

I got angry at myself and as a result I started beating my head repeatedly (I started this around late November 2008). Never too hard, until one night... I laid on the floor and banged my head against it as hard as I possibly could. I don't remember losing consciousness, but I may have (I did fall asleep soon after). I just remember waking up with the worst pain of my life.

I don't do that anymore, don't worry.

Since then, I always feel like I'm in a fog, confused (sometimes mildly, sometimes to the point of complete disorientation). I have little memory, ability to concentrate, or focus. When I move my head up or down, my neck makes a very loud clicking sound. In addition to migraines, I also now get headaches - almost constantly - in the back of my head. It feels like it's swollen and I sometimes lose hearing, especially when i move my head. They get worse when I lay down.

I've seen a neurologist for migraines and narcolepsy, and he's got me on topamax for the migraines. This helps some of the fog, actually, but not all, and it doesn't help those back-of-the-head headaches, which seem to be getting worse.

I also saw a chiropractor, who x-rayed my neck. It had no curve in it whatsoever, and leaned greatly to the left. As I saw him more, the symptoms improved slightly, but I couldn't keep paying as I lost my job due to these things.

I realize this could be a concussion, but I was under the impression that they heal most of the time in a matter of several months. How can I treat this to ease some of the symptoms on my own? I don't get to see the doctor again until October.

It sounds like you have yourself in quite a pickle. I would not suggest any form of prognosis. Your mix of problems can make it hard to determine if any remedy is working.

Head injuries heal when they want to. The statistics say that many heal (as much as they will heal) in a matter of months.

The studies do show that multiple minor traumas within a short period of time can be far more permanently damaging that one more serious trauma.

It sounds like you might fit the multiple traumas statistic.

Studies show that soccer players suffer decreases in IQ of about 10% from the multiple heading of the ball, especially during heading drills.
