Default Advice please

I just had my concussion 3 weeks ago. It happended during a baseball game when i was sliding into 2nd base and got hit in the head. Even though i had a helmet on it didnt stop the concussion which is my 1st problem how could it happen when im wearing it? This is my 3rd concussion all from baseballs to the head previous 2 w/o helmets on. The 1st wasnt serious and was when i was a child and the 2nd more serius as i threw up from it, 3 yrs ago. As you guys feals more worried and anxiety about it happening it again, i do to. I feel so stressed out about it. But also i notice ive been feeling a lot more depressed from not knowing when or if im going to get bettter, i mean im 16 and an honors student and i just dont know where to turn to. The symmptoms ive been feeling are at 1st constant headache, dizziness, coulnt sleep, fatigued. Now little headache sleepping more, but still feel really tired. Not to mention w/ all the emotional crap ive been dealing w/.Please post your thoughts and opoinions.

Welcome to the forum JT! You've gone through a lot with the concussions. I hope you'll start feeling better as more time passes.

There are others here who have gone through similar experiences. I hope you'll make some friends and learn how to cope with the pain and other symptoms.

Take care and feel better soon.

Hi JT,

I'm sorry you find yourself here, but I'm glad you found it too. It sounds like you are having some challanges. There are a lot of people who have been going through this stuff for a long time here. They have a lot of information to share and advice to give.

Are you seeing a neurologist about your concussion? Are you still going to school right now? Do you have any extra help at school? Are you taking any medications?

Please keep us posted.

Welcome,

yes i see a neurologist previously for migraines, she didnt know what to do after prescribing me all different medications that didnt work. Topamax, Pregnazone taper, furucet. Im going to a concussion specialist for the impact testing this thursday. I just generally feel depressed sleep, fatigued, irritable, break down crying in front of my mom, and the constant pain from the headaches which none of the medicine help. I just wanna know when im gonna go back to school if im on rest period the rest of this week and i take the test this thursday. Im so tired and stressed out.

JT

Please just rest and try to chill, wait for the coming test. You need to give
your head time to heal. I would also like to say that its possible that
the topamax is maybe the wrong medication for the migraines. So hopefully
if it doesn't start working soon, they will try a new medication.

Lots of people with migraines do well on depakote ER so that might be a good
one to try.

I take imitrex for my migraines when they happen.

hey im 16 too but have only had one concussion so far. im still dealing with pcs after about 10 months since the injury. Yes i think you can feel depressed even if you dont have a tbi, i dont think i have one and still get very depressed a lot. i know what you mean with school too ive now been out for almost 2 months and starting to get stressed because if we dont get help with the school i may have to do my sophmore year over again. sorry none of the medication is working right now im on amtriptyline maybe ask your doctor about it its supposed to help with depression and headaches ive been on it for about 3 weeks now and i virtually have no headaches after having constant ones for 10 months straight its so nice to have some relief so try suggesting that to them its worth a shot. hope you start feeling better soon.

Hey JT,

I'm sorry you are feeling depressed. I think anytime life changes so drastically, you are bound to have changes in your moods too. I have been dealing with this for 4 months, and I go through many different moods. Some days I'm at peace with it all, and some days I want to cry all day.

Definitely bring all your symptoms up with your neurologist and see what they can do for you. I have had a lot of success after some trial and error and am at a manageable place right now, kind of.... ;-)

It's good to get feelings off your chest, feel free to PM me if you want to vent. Keep us posted on what happens after your test.
