Default Neuro transmitter test dhea

I have been going to the Amen clinic for about a year now. I had a brain scan done there in Dec 08 and it was very expensive. I do like the DR. I am seeing there but I have some concerns in his understanding of my injury. He has put me on some MEDs that were very harmful to me and my Neurologist said that at that dose it could kill me.
Anyway we decided to do a Neurotransmitter test to check out my DHEA levels the test cost me 500.00 my insurance would not pay for it, but I decided to do it. I got the results back and My DR. said my DHEA was very low and I needed to take DHEA supplements, he said just go to the health food store and get 10-25 mg did say how often or what kind.
I was very disappointed because the Neuro test had recomcondations for me to take, I am just little worried with all my sensitizes to anything that even a little DHEA will send me over the edge. I have trauma induced seizures. And I am overwhelmed by everything, noise lights, movement, and stress.
I have tried to take several different supplements and have had a reaction to all
The most interesting thing I got out of the Brain scan at the Amen Clinic is that my brain is acting like an ADD Brain, my resting brain is working, and my working brain is resting.
It was actually my Neurologist that figured out that the sedatives they had me on for 3 years was actually making my brain hyper and she put me on Ritalin and it did calm my brain down but the side effects a nasty.
So I just worried that adding a hormone in the mixed will react in a strange way.
Has anyone had results with DHEA and any suggestion on a good DHEA supplement?

I take DHEA. My blood test came back as low in DHEA. My wife has been on DHEA for years. DHEA is the quarterback of hormones. It manages all of the other hormones. If you DHEA is low, the others will be out of kilter. It also helps regulate your metabolism and energy levels.

The best OTC DHEA is by Schiff. They also have it at the best price. I take 25 mg per day. Don't let the pill sit on a wet tongue. They taste horrible, at least to me.

My wife gets hers from Women's International Pharmacy. It is a pharmacy that specializes in Bio-identical hormones. I get Testosterone cream from them. Mine T is low too. WIP puts the DHEA in a plastic/gel capsule.

Beware the alliterated DHEA supplements. Stick with Schiff.

BTW, Vitamin Shoppe has DHEA by Schiff online and in the store. It can be hard to find. Walgreens sells it online but not in the store.

You docs 10-25 mg is odd. I have only found it in 25 or 50 mg. Once a day should be good. How is your D3? It is also commonly low as is B-12 and folate. It can take a while for these supplement to show improvements. So don't expect immediate improvement.

When you are in a deep hole, first you have to stop digging, then you have to slowly work at filling the hole, then you finally get back to level ground and can improve.
