Mikeyy,
The improvement to your knee most likely has to do with the barometric pressure increase. It is not uncommon for knees to be more symptomatic during lower barometric pressure. There is very little in the knee that can heal, especially heal quickly. The meniscus cartilage has white areas that have no blood supply and pink areas with very little blood supply. The white areas get nutrients from the interstitial fluids. The white areas can heal but extremely slowly. I have lived with bad knees since 1973. Three surgeries later, I still need to be careful. Some scar tissue might improve with the higher oxygen concentrations and vapor pressure. Scar tissue is lighter colored because it has less blood supply. Cartilage with a good blood supply, like the nose cartilage, can start to heal in a matter of hours. I wonder if anybody has ever studied HBOT for osteo-arthritis. |
