vini, Wow. You described it all exactly. Truly, literally, trying to organize paperwork makes me ill also. I'm solo, so there's no assist.

as for organizing paperwork it makes me ill so ask for help our paperwork is all in neat colored folders now,

but for me to find anything is still a nightmare I find I have to lay the files out on the floor

pic up one letter / piece of information at a time physically walk to the file and put it in one at a time

kooky huh but this is how we work round missing cells

Wow, I have the same paperwork problem. I have found a very good work-around. I get three ring binders. I punch all of the papers. I put them in the binders then I try to sort them. It help to be able to only see one page at a time. I will slowly colate the pages and organize them into an understandable order.

If I have more than a few pages in view at the same time, I will quickly overload. I use a similar technique when I need to write a report or extended written document. I start by cutting and pasting all of the information into a document. Sometimes, I will have three different monitors up at the same time. My wife's laptop can have a second monitor connected to it as can most laptops. I will have my desktop computer on my desk and my wife's laptop on another desk with two screens.

I will do my research on one monitor. Cut and paste from that screen to a Word document on another screen. After I have all of the information cut and pasted, I start organizing it. Again, I use cut and paste to start putting the information into a order that makes sense.

My office can get pretty weird looking as I have three monitors going at once. If I try to use one monitor with pages in front and behind, i forget what is behind and get overwhelmed trying to find my place back to my previous point.

This may sound convoluted but I can put together 20 to 30 page documents using this system. I had to act as my own attorney (barrister/solicitor) and needed to file many long documents with the courts. It took me hours upon hours but I got the job done. I spend over 100 hours preparing for 45 minutes of testimony with supporting documents.

So, with a few clever work-arounds, we brain injured can still accomplish quite a bit.

I probably have a work-around or accommodation technique for most of the symptoms that brain injured struggle with.

I use this computer as my working memory since my brain's working memory is kaput. I can start typing and when I forget what I am trying to say, I can read over what I have already typed. If I did not have a computer to use to be functional, I would be worthless.
