Question Truly Frustrated

I don't know if I am in the right spot or not...Just looking for some help or answers. I was in a car accident on 11/27/2009. I was sitting in the back sit behind the front passenger when we were T-boned at a high speed. The impact was so great that I hit my head of the window and bounced back and hit it again. Since then I am having constant headaches with numbness, pain and tingling on the right side of my face. I feel pain and pressure behind my right eye and ear. Last couple of days pain and tingleing is running down my right arm. Through out most days I will get a sharp pain that shoots through my head. I had a CT scan that showed an indeterminate to 2 to 3 mm oval are of increased density withing the fourth ventricle. They sent me for further evaluation with a contrast-enhanced MRI of my brain, which came back clear. I went to a neurologist which told me that the car accident triggered an ongoing miagraine. I had an area on the back of my head which felt like needles and pins...she put me on steroids which by the second day was gone. BUT.....I still have the numbness, pain, tingling and pressure in my face and ear. You can literally draw a line straight down my face and everything to the right is affected while everything on the left side is normal. The numbness feels like when you go to the dentist and they give you novacaine and the feeling you get right before it wears off is the best that I can describe....does anyone have any similar experience that can tell me where to go and what to do. I have another appt this weds with the neurologist. Thank you in advance for anything that you can tell me.

You might look for an upper cervical chiropractor. Sounds like you may have cranial nerve involvement. Google NUCCA and see if you can find someone in your area. Some neck traction oriented physical therapy might be helpful.

Your symptoms can be very disturbing. Keep pushing for understanding. Doctors who just ignore your pleas are likely stumped. Keep looking.

Morgansgrandma,

I'm sorry for your accident and your ongoing symptoms. I hope you can find some relief, or at least just a place to get started. Definitely do some research and get yourself ready for whatever doctor's appts you have. You have to be your own advocate in the brain injury game.

I'm sorry I don't have more information for you, but I'm here for you for support and I'll listen.

Thank you so much for answering.....I am so sorry to hear about your on going pain. Can I ask how long this has been going on for you?
It is so frustrating to be in pain every second of every minute of every hour, day after day after day. This is day 50 for me. I went to the dr yesterday and she told "I told you, that you have a concusion and a miagraine"..I said, for 49 days? and she told me to quit counting...that a person can have a concusion and a miagraine for months and months. (not so reasuring for me)...anyway, she put me on another drug and told me to take it as perscribe so that my body will heal. It's only been two days....I'm not feeling the "miagraine" but the numbness, tingling down my arm, the burning behind my ear, and pressure behind my eye is still present. I know that the meds are just "masking" the miagraine.....(I did sleep through the night last night, that was a good thing". Anyway, I guess I just need to be patient and see how the drug works.
I hope that you are getting better.

Hi Mark,

Thank you so much for the info. Going to google NUCCA the minute I finish this. You are absoultly right about drs. I'm having difficulty trying to communicate to my dr about my symtoms....she has it in her head that I just have an on going concusion and miagraine headache. All I know is this isn't "right" the way that I am now...I wasn't this way before the accident. I just want it all to go away and to be well once again.. I don't want to spend months on "pills".

Thank you again...will keep you posted.
