I had a Brain Injury and concussion on Oct. 31,2009. I was at my first indoor concert, big light show. "Something" happened to me and I fell rigid onto a wood floor, my head was back, I took the full impact on my jaw bone. I was unresponsive for about 25 minutes. That was then. My Dr. first thought it was a seizure, then said I had Convulsive syncope disorder. I was allowed back to work on January 4,2010. I thought I would go back and everything would be just like when I left. Boy was I wrong. I Knew my memory was not good yet, so I requested a desk job.( I work in a jail) I was told by another Dr. to work like I was trainning for the Olympics. So, I did. I made HUGE mistakes. I did not know I was making them. I had to stay late every night just to finish my work.(Not normal for me-before I was done hours before off time)
The pressure in my head started coming back the 3rd day. Then dizziness,I knew I was exhausted by lunch, but I kept pushing myself- to see if it would all come back to me. My Dr.(not neurologist) put me on a non narcotic pain med to help with my head pain and pressure. One pill did nothing so she told me to take two. I was driving home, it was 8:30 pm, dark out. I saw up ahead the cops were on the side of the road. Lights on. I moved to the left lane. I remember my vision seemed like I was looking through a pin hole. I had not traveled very far when I remember thing WTF . I was going 35 miles an hour ( freeway) and I had finger nail marks in my hand from making a fist? I don't exactly remember driving home, but I got home and I was trying to get in the house. I do not know how long I was trying, because my boyfriend opened the door and he said I was going through the motions of unlocking the door, but I was 2 feet from the door. He said he asked me what was wrong and I kept saying the door in locked over and over. He said I had a strange look on my face. Like Panic. Does anyone think the lights may have effected me? The meds my dr put me on is ultracet. Sorry so long. |

natscoolma,
Have you had a full spectrum EEG done yet? By full spectrum, I mean one with the flashing lights and other standard triggers. It sounds like the flashing lights may have been a problem. I know to avoid flashing lights. They do not appear to cause me to have a seizure, but they get my thoughts all 'muddy,' sort of like my thoughts are not able to flow properly or are stuck in a haze. The ultracet lists seizure as a clinically significant side effect. Maybe you are one of the very few with this side-effect. It also list fainting as a side effect. I would be very careful driving in the dark. Such that, if you see a flashing light in the distance, try to avoid driving past it. Since I do not drive, I will look away or even close my eyes to avoid the flashing lights. Closing your eyes while you drive is as bad as the risk of a seizure, so I would not advise either. LOL You would be surprised to know how many people have problems trying to drive at night. My wife has virtually no depth perception at night, especially if she is tired. I hope you can get a doctor to be concerned for you and look into this seriously. Be persistent. My best to you.

Mark, is right. You need a EEG. So get ahold of the doctor. And get a appointment, explain everything. Please also try and have someone else do the driving until you have done the testing. And hopefully they can get you on some medicine for this. Donna ![]() |
