I seem to have found some interesting things. I think in my case my #1 priority is to stop the inevitable regression towards parkinson's disease symptoms in traumatic encephalopathy. I think I am on to something interesting, because I have been reading a lot and I have found a few things that could possibly help. I feel pretty cognitive and decent, all I want in life is to not inevitably degenerate into a pd patient in the next 5 years. I think that nutrition can fully prevent this the more I look into it. I may not get back to where I was, but at least I will not look like muhammad ali does in 5 years.
Curcumin R-alpha-lipoic acid and acetyl-L-carnitine Fish oil and vitamin C (I already take these) N-Acetyl-Cysteine I can't post links * yet, but if you type in any of the above substances followed by "tau" you will get google hits that speak of their ability to not only protect some brain cells from oxidative damage, but also to untangle the tau proteins already in the brain. (Hi Google!) HBOT is kinda interesting. There was a study done last year with the The US Department of Health and Human Services, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) compiled articles reviewing the research pertaining to using HBOT for traumatic brain injury, stroke and cerebral palsy. (http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/N...+Injury&rank=1)
Pertaining to brain injuries, they saw that it lowered mortality and comas but increases the risk of low long term recovery. But it doesn't seem like they had much to go by, just two studies. But recently this year it's been getting attention by football players such as George Visger. And it's been somewhat positive. (http://www.smartplanet.com/people/bl...-chamber/1769/) He's now trying to get the NFL to back HBOT healing by having a chamber in each stadium, and he spoke at the The 1st Annual Neuro-Recovery & Health Conference of Northern California about his healing. Then again, the HBOT guys are heavily endorsing George (and vice versa) so I don't know how absolutely reliable it is. If the treatment only costs me five thousand, I'd give it a shot. But I'm still cautious about the dangers, increased pressure never seems like a good thing for a brain injury. Oh, here's some news story about a woman using HBOT to recover from a stroke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5zzZJvUMHc Anyone else got more information about George or HBOT healing?
