Default Coming up to 2 years

I feel no different than I did a year ago, nothing is improving and i've accepted that this is the way I will be from here on out.

I've never actually been assessed by a neurologist or any other type of head injury/brain expert, and that's mainly down to me thinking there's nothing that can be done to repair the damage, all I can do is live a healthy lifestyle and try to avoid any future head injuries.

Permanent symptoms are being foggy, physical brain sensitivity, sound / air pressure sensitivity and possibly some fatigue. However as far as I can tell, to date I've never struggled cognitively. My memory has never been the best, i find that i easily forget names of things if i haven't heard them for some time but this was the case before my injury too. I've taken online short term memory tests before and scored reasonably well. I had my injury during a degree yet still went on to finish and score highly without any problems. I've done numerous exams and have never found the mental strain of studying complex theory or of lengthy revision to effect my symptoms. I am also now in a very technical job which is very demanding. If anything, I'm most at ease when I'm working, studying, solving complex problems.

I guess I'm writing this just to see if anyone can help me make sense of why things are the way they are, why my head feeling like a hazy ball of air doesn't effect my intellect or my brain's processing power? I know some of the poster's on here struggle a lot with the things I'm saying I don't, and at least for now I feel very fortunate for that, but it puzzles me somewhat.

From what I understand the symptoms can depend on what part of your brain was affected. The first neurologist I went to showed me a brain sculpture and pointed out areas that caused certain symptoms I was experiencing.
