Default craniectomy

My father suffered a TBI seven months ago. Due to MRSA infection in the bone flap, he had a craniectomy. The size and shape of the skin covering his removed skull area fluctuates. I am trying to find information to account for this fluctuation and any significance.
Please advise. If another forum or group would be more appropriate, please direct.
