Default My First Neurologist Appt. Kinda funny

I was able to go to my first neorologist appt. for Post Concussion Syndrome yesterday. I gave them a disc of my CT scan for them to copy, and wrote out all my symptoms before hand, so they made a copy of that also.

He did talk to me about my symptoms, and wanted more bloodwork and and MRI done.

What was funny (I thought) was after he got done testing my reflexes with the little hammer thingy, he looked up at me and asked "So. When was the last time you had reflexes?" I laughed and said back to him "Your supposed to have em? Really, tho, I had them at my last physical, a while back. Definatly had them pre injury." He said it could be related to whatever it is thats causing the symptoms OR meds. Which are Trazadone for sleep, and Depekote for anxiety. Either way I am assuming thats why he wants more blood and an MRI.

Anyone else lose those reflexes suddenly after a head injury?

taking it in stride

I am not exactly sure if it was a lose of reflexs. But I had a unusual situation
happen when I went to my pain doctor's office.

I didn't seem to have the correct reflexes. I'm not sure if I had reflexes.

It was just really odd.

Absent nerve reflexes can be a symptom of an acute injury or the result of fatigue. The fatigue does not usually show up on the first or second try. It usually take 12 or more attempts to fatigue the nerve channels.

I have never had absent deep tendon reflexes but do have a positive Babinski response. When the bottom of the foot is stimulated/tickled, the toes should curl down. In a positive Babinski, the toes retract upward. The Babinski's sign can indicate upper motor neuron lesion constituting damage to the corticospinal tract. I have had this positive reflex since a youth.

Your MRI results will be interesting. My doctor tried a variety of imaging to find causes but all my images were normal. Maybe a functional MRI (fMRI) will be prescribed to look deeper. Sometimes, it will show an area that is not being activated as it normally would.
