Read about the variability of IQ tests. There is serious doubt as to the value of attempting to quantify intelligence.

What is more important than IQ is motivation. A person with a high IQ but no motivation is not worth the paper their IQ result is printed on. The person with a lower IQ and lots of motivation will often out-perform the higher IQ but less motivated person.

Please, get off the IQ worry. Instead, worry about how you apply the skills you have. Now, go apply yourself to something productive.

I like mark's reply. My IQ is 140+. I have been slower than a turtle lately but I'm still sharp. Everything I do takes longer but I'm still in the concussion stage. I've not healed yet. I am having to be more deliberate in everything that I do at work. I believe that once healed my IQ or my ability to process information could be different - I hope not- but could be. However, it will be just as successful. Best of luck to you.

Loss of intelligence
 

I guess it must seem strange, despite all the problems that come with postconcussion syndrome, loss of intelligence (as measured by IQ tests) does not seem to be a big issue.

Does anyone else feel that they are dramatically less intelligent? I don't. I still perform well on IQ tests. There may be problems with getting tired and having headaches when you do the tests, but that doesn't mean that your score would be lower.

The posts on this thread seem to come from smart people, not less intelligent that the average anyway.

I think that worrying about intelligence may be less of a real concern to people who have had a concussion than might be imagined by those who haven't got the symptoms.

Also, I completely agree with those who think that it is not how intelligent that you are that counts, but rather what you do with your intelligence.

Some of us with PCS are having difficultly in functioning and putting our intelligence into effect, but that doesn't mean that our intelligence is any the less.
