Anyone know if its ok to use a cold pack for head throbing and head aches?

I do ...sometimes heat packs..but not too hot.

Sure, you can use the cold packs on your head or on your neck. You will likely get the most benefit from using them on your neck.
I have also gotten relief from standing under the shower with it flowing over my head or neck. Try different temperatures.
