Default Pcs and alcohol

Hi
Just wondered if anyone with pcs has had increased anxiety after a heavy drinking session?
I was at a party last night and had a fair amount
Of red wine, probably a couple of bottles and today I feel dreadful!
Shaky anxious scared. Weak feeling in my legs and arms.
I never used to get this prior to my concussion; which was now two months ago!
Just want my life back to how it was. I loved my life before this happened and now it feels like some of the joy has been taken back.
My gp has agreed to send me for a scan to see what's going on.
I am debating taking a Valium today just to chill me out.
Be good to see if anyone else has had this sensation?

The recovering brain does not tolerate alcohol very well. I'm surprised your GP did not tell you this. Absent any serious symptoms (severe head aches, loss of motor control, etc), there is usually no value to a CT Scan. They are unnecessary huge doses of radiation.

I hope you don't feel it is necessary to drink to feel joy. Many of us have found joy without the need to stress our brains. A single serving is OK but getting tipsy is not advised.

My best to you.

Yes - I have found that I can't drink more then 1 or 2 drinks a night and I only drink a few times a months. I had been told by my doctors but didn't believe until I had 6 drinks and felt bad for the next 4 days.

The bigger issue is thinking of everything you can't do. This thinking will only lead to dark places. This is a great time in your life to try new things and improve yourself.

I would guess with time you will recover and do everything you do before. I am not good at waiting so go out and see what new things you can learn. This is the best way to help your brain recover by creating new pathway (this is what my medical team tells me so I am not giving medical advice).

Becky!

Guess you found a limit. That is the way limits seem to be found here...trial and error

Two bottles is about fourteen glasses, that's a lot no wonder you feel bad the next day your brain is dehydrated. Be nice to your brain :-)

I would agree with Mark regarding the CT being unnecessary. However, my CT showed up a small bone anomaly that could have been cancer, thankfully it wasn't. The radiologist said it wasn't uncommon to find things they weren't looking. BTW modern CT scanners give a far lower dose of radiation than they used to.
