It's crazy how much worse my anxiety makes this. What a psychosomatic nightmare. Every two seconds I'm paranoid that I'm dying...ugh.

I agree with what everyone has said. REST, REST, REST. Take a week or two completely off if you can manage it at all.

I had a LOT of anxiety after my injury. It actually can be a symptom of the injury. If it persists, and you find that you are not able to relax around it, you may want to ask your doctor for some anti-anxiety medication.

One thing that helped me a lot was finding guided relaxation and meditation podcasts. I downloaded many of these and would listen to them throughout the day. It gave me something gentle and non-stimulating to focus on instead of getting lost in my anxiety.

Good luck!

For all those reading...I just want to say that recovery is truly a mental game. This morning I had a massive anxiety attack...I then decided I would get out of the house and do something today so I would stop thinking so much. It was the best thing for me...I went to the beach and it really made me feel great to get out and do something again. Rest is good, and necessary for recovery...but a positive attitude is the most important thing. Don't psych yourself out...the body recovers. Have faith, and continue living. Thanks all for the support, and I will keep you posted!

So, now I have a new problem. I've been recovering pretty well, and for the most part, I feel better again. However, I have tried to have sex now twice since the incident, and it resulted in a panic attack. WTF? I will admit that I smoked Marijuana before this happened both times as well, but I never had problems with this before. Is this just because I'm not fully healed and my brain can't handle sexual activity yet?

It's the weed. Don't smoke it next time and see what happens.
