I too have been experiencing these ice pick headaches, but mine are not related to a recent head injury. My concussion was more than 5 years ago now so I do not suspect a connection.

I saw my doctor about these terrible headaches last week and he said that the pain was nerve pain, which would be why your doctor put you on Tegretol phild83. I'm taking a different anti-epileptic medication anyway, so he didn't alter my current medications.

He told me that ice-pick headaches are often a symptom of Temperal Arteritis, although from reading about that condition, I don't think I have that. Anyway, I've had blood drawn for an ESR and if that is elevated, my doctor will send me for further investigations, including a biopsy.

i had bloods done and they came back normal.I have tried going off and going back on some foods to see would it be linked to that but so far no good. years ago when i was a child i had an accident in my yard where i fell on to some blocks and split my head open. but i dont know if that would be linked to this as it was long ago.

I do experience neck pain also. I will request an MRI from my doctor
