Default colors and music

Hi,

I'm new to this group. I was in a car accident back in June where I hit my head into the windshield and got a concussion. It's my fifth and worst concussion that I have had.

I seem to still be having troulble with some of my cognitive stuff. I have trouble particularly in remembering things that I read or just saw. I have to remind myself that the street is clear when I'm looking the other way when I am crossing the street. I also have trouble where I seem to not be able to process multiple conversations or things happening. It's really frustrating and occasionally anxiety-provoking to be so overwhelmed and confused all of the time.

One unusual thing that I experience is that I used to see colors with music, but I don't anymore. My doctors seem mildly entertained by that change. I was wondering if anyone else experienced that? I also wonder if anyone thinks it'll come back.

Thanks!

Synesthesia.

It's thought this happens because the centres for visual and music processing overlap a bit in people who experience this. In "regular" people, they are close, but don't overlap.

If I remember correctly, it's more common in women than men.

It's a pretty cool ability; I hope that your ability to see colours with music returns.

Thanks. I wish it did too. It feels weird to listen to music without the color.

Hey Jenariane! I haven't experienced the music/color thing (before or after my concussion) but I feel like you just borrowed a page from my story when it comes to the short-term memory issues! It's actually kind of a relief that someone else mentioned this - I'll look up a code for work and forget it before I can even key it - sometimes twice or three times! Thanks for sharing - I guess maybe misery just loves company.
