Just wanted to give you guys a quick update that can provide a little hope. I'm 5 months into PCS. Feeling 100% most of the time when I'm in a low physical environment. Thinking or feeling no longer flares any PCS symptoms for me. High level thinking at work is great now and I'm working long hours. Thank goodness.
Physical activity still does make PCS symptoms flare up a little but pretty much just while running (which I can do just about none of.) I can swim or walk fairly well with no issue (not like a super athlete yet but like a normal functioning human.) It's all good. I noticed that visually I can get a little overwhelmed with movement of too many objects so I've started taking long walks on a rocky path in the woods. This has been stimulating my brain quite well and it's getting better at taking it all in visually. There are so many different colored leaves, rocks sticking up, roots, etc to look at and take in and process quickly while navigating through it. It's a great exercise for the PCS brain! Best wishes. |

A link to an article on Sidney Crosby's recovery status. There are some good quotes (articles like this one can only help raise awareness about concussions):
http://montreal.ctv.ca/servlet/an/lo...MontrealSports 'Crosby has visited with leading concussion specialists in Michigan and Georgia, who have concluded the 24-year-old All-Star will make a full recovery from the concussion he suffered in January that cost him the remainder of the 2010-11 season. 'But how long that recovery will take remains unknown. '"We always knew this was going to be a progressive recovery – based on how he felt," said Pat Brisson, Crosby's agent, in the statement. "With a concussion, there is not a finite recovery period like with a shoulder injury or a knee injury. That's why we've never even set a specific goal for a return date like the start of training camp or Oct. 1 or anything else. He will play when he is symptom free."' |

as you mentioned they do expect a full recovery, and NHL concussion history shows that mostly all players come back symptom free from a first or second concussion, even if it takes them a yr or more to rest. hopefully he comes back and has a healthy career. his case has done a lot to raise concussion awareness in sports. |

I'm so happy for your progress. I think I might get out and start walking again..maybe even later..if the rain stops!
I still have trouble in a car, walking around in stores, etc. basically too much of anything is not good for me but learning how to navigate it (somewhat!) keep us posted! |
