Today my day consisted of -- having a long (say 40 min ) conversation on the phone with a friend. Then I went to the chiropractor who did traction, ultrasound, tens type unit cracked neck...I'm there about an hour. He keeps me on this table that has rollers under it...feels great!
Then I stopped at BJs to get a new dog bed with a friend...and went to lunch with her. Restaurant was not busy ..but had some music (like spa type) on in..but not real low. It didn't bother me like it usually does. And..driving was only 10 mins in each direction Well 5 mins after I left..I could feel the symptoms coming on. Head started hurting, down my neck, teeth hurt...head feels heavy etc. I took an excedrine (back and body) because it has no caffeine in it. I sat on the couch and rested (sort of meditate...not sure if I'm doing that right but I tried...all in all rested quietly for 20 mins) I feel like crap all over. Mainly my jaw, teeth and neck and head. I feel this vibration feeling in my neck and back of head ..and I feel more off balance. does this sound like what you go through?? Does it sound like a tmj issue?? I just don't know what to think it is. I get my tmj mouth appliance hopefully friday. Dentist seems to think its part of the issues. could it be possible that talking could cause some of this?? |

Talking could definitely cause it. I also find that conversation is one of the things that wears me out the most, and makes my symptoms worse.

ok...we need to "talk" ..no pun intended. Seriously, I don't understand for the life of me how this could be possible. What do you notice other than being tired?
I get weird feelings in my head...sometimes it feels like my voice is vibrating in my head...sometimes I feel my nose throbbing and teeth (which dentist is saying is the nerves coming from tmj). ..waiting on an expensive appliance. Sometimes it feels like someone just shook my head after I've been talking with a friend for a while. Do you feel like this? I just don't understand it. How could talking affect me so much? I feel like a nutcase telling anyone this! |

why can't i zone out in front of tv?
and...does driving bother you? ..computer? reading? did you look into it being a tmj issue? I'm hoping this is some of my answer. It sounds logical when dentist presented all the facts. |

I am a dentist ...30 years of practice. Generally tmj does not cause the teeth themselves to hurt. Tmj/myofacial pain dysfunction syndrome have varied symptoms---pain when opening or closing...tenderness of palpating (touching) the joint itself just in front of the ears or the muscles around it. Pain radiating from the joint to the areas around the eyes and into the forehead. Also headaches in these areas. Your symproms do not sound completely consistent with tmj, but there always exceptions to the rule. Need you to be a lot more specific. Personally, I know that hiatal hernia can cause severe pain in the lower jaw..........any chance of this??? will try to be of help if i can.

I get pain on the top of my head and sometimes the back of my head and neck after having a half hour conversation. I wake up during the night with my nose tingling, jaw hurts, ears sometimes hurt. I feel like crap all over...from the middle of my back to top of head. I'm also off balance all the time...but seems worse after activity (even talking ...say on the phone...I will feel off balance)
I know for a fact that the anxiety (which comes on AFTER I start feeling awful) is only exaggerating the symptoms. Oh..and the hit on the head was actually the back of head -- hit a foam wall at a waterpark. I know it was a whiplash situation. I am now getting physical therapy and chiro work done. Ultrasound to neck, traction, etc. I feel like crap after being in a store for 15 mins (food shopping etc). I just can't stand it anymore. Its been 13 months! I don't know what is coming from the jaw, neck, or brain. I don't know what's too much for me and what is coming from me be afraid and anxious of feeling like crap. Dentist did a huge workup on me. He said that I have no space where the disc should be on one side of my jaw and half mm on the other side (he said there shuld be close to 5 mm of space) He showed me the xrays -- didn't look so good. I was fitted for an orthotic and should be here next week. He also said I show signs of grinding and or clenching. |
