Default Now I'm Hypothyroid

For the past month or so i have been feeling extrememly run down and wiped out. I returned to work 2 months ago and now am in my 5th month post TBI. My doctor ran a ton of tests including one for mono to see why im so fatigued. Turns out I am also Hypothyroid now. I compared old lab tests from this summer in July where my thyroxine was low and my TSH was normal. Now my thyroxine is low and my TSH has increased by 5 times showing that i am now clinically hypothryroid because my pituitary is working over time trying to make my thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Does this have anything to do with my brain injury or just coincidental?

My doc is putting me on Levoxyl to treat the hypothyroidism and hoping i will regain some of my energy and be less fatigued. Sometimes i dont know what is my PCS or something else. Also, as a side note, i havent had a period in 5 months since the accident. Is it the hypothyroid that is causing this or the PCS?

Im a fairly healthy 30 year old woman who up until the accident had tons of energy, never had a weight problem, worked out constantly and now have this. Just feel a little young for hypothryoid and odd that this new diagnosis comes while im recovering from PCS. See my Neurologist in the morning and definetly going to ask her if theres a correlation.

I don't know much about the thyroid, but I do know that since my concussion 20 months ago, I am fatigued all the time. I have never in my life felt as tired as I do now.

I have done all sorts of blood tests to check for anything that might be wrong. I am taking the supplements that have been recommended on this website and still I cannot do what I used to do easily before my injury.

All I am trying to say is that the brain can take a long time to heal, and it is very common for people to feel exhausted after a brain injury. Doctors - at least most of the doctors that I have seen - seem to be as puzzled by our condition as we are.

From what I've read in your posts, you are working very hard, and your hours would be difficult for someone without an injury. I wish that you could take some time off to heal.
This condition that we have takes a lot of patience. I hope that you will find the answers that you are looking for.
